The Inklin River is a river in British Columbia, Canada. It is a tributary of the Taku River. This means it is a smaller river that flows into the Taku River. The Inklin River is also known by its Tlingit name, Héen Tlein.
The Inklin River starts where two other rivers, the Nahlin River and the Sheslay River, meet. This meeting point is called a confluence. From there, the Inklin River flows about 83 kilometers (52 miles). It then joins the Nakina River. Where the Inklin and Nakina rivers meet, the Taku River officially begins. The mouth of the Inklin River is about 100 km (62 miles) northeast of Juneau, Alaska. It is also about 160 km (99 miles) northwest of Telegraph Creek, British Columbia.

Where the River Flows
The Inklin River helps form the edge of the Taku Plateau. This plateau is a flat, high area of land. The river also flows near the Boundary Ranges. These are part of the Coast Mountains.
River Size and Water Flow
The area of land that drains into the Inklin River is called its drainage basin or watershed. This area covers about 10,463 square kilometers (4,040 square miles). The average amount of water flowing in the Inklin River is about 177 cubic meters (6,250 cubic feet) per second. This is like 177 large boxes of water flowing by every second!
Important Tributaries
Many smaller streams and rivers flow into the Inklin River. These are its tributaries. Some of the main ones include Yeth Creek, Sutlahine River, Kaustua Creek, Kowatua Creek, and Teditua Creek. The Nahlin and Sheslay Rivers are its starting points.
Protected Areas
Part of the lower Inklin River flows through a special protected area. This area is called the Nakina–Inklin Rivers/Yáwu Yaa Conservancy. A conservancy helps protect nature and wildlife.
