Fraser Island Topo Map 1942
Inskip Point is shown on a map of Fraser Island, just south of Hook Point

Inskip Point is a small piece of land that sticks out into the water, located in south-east Queensland, Australia. It's found just north of the town of Rainbow Beach. This area is super important because it's the main way for cars to get to Fraser Island, which is a very popular place for holidays and exploring nature.

Where is Inskip Point?

Inskip Point is surrounded by beautiful waters. To its southwest, you'll find Tin Can Bay. To the north, it faces the Great Sandy Strait. The land curves around towards Rainbow Beach and the Coral Sea on its eastern side.

Getting to Fraser Island

The southern tip of Fraser Island is called Hook Point. It is about 1,200 metres north of Inskip Point. Two different ferry services run between Inskip Point and Hook Point. These ferries operate during daylight hours, making it easy for people to travel to and from Fraser Island.

Protecting Local Wildlife

Inskip Point is home to many different animals. One special bird, the black-breasted buttonquail, used to live in the sand dunes here. This bird is very rare and is only found in a few places. Sadly, there are very few of these birds left.

Experts believe that wild dogs and dingoes have hunted many of these birds. To help protect the remaining birds, some people suggest catching the wild dogs and dingoes. If they are pure dingoes, they could be released back into the wild. If they are not pure dingoes, other actions might be taken to manage their numbers. This helps keep the natural balance for all the animals living in the area.
