Interwar period facts for kids
The interwar period was a time between two huge global conflicts: World War I and World War II. It started in November 1918 when World War I ended and finished in September 1939 when World War II began. So, it lasted for about 21 years.
Even though it was a short time, this period saw many big changes around the world. People started using more oil and machines. This led to a time called the Roaring Twenties (or the Golden Twenties). During this time, many people in North America, Europe, and other places became richer. Things like cars, electric lights, and radio became common in many homes.
However, this good time didn't last. The fun and spending of the 1920s led to the Great Depression. This was a huge economic problem that affected the whole world. Many countries faced serious money troubles and job losses.

New Ideas and World Peace Efforts
After World War I, leaders wanted to prevent another big war. So, they created the League of Nations. This group was supposed to help countries talk to each other and solve problems peacefully. Its main goal was to keep the world safe.
However, the League of Nations faced many challenges. It struggled to stop countries like Germany from breaking peace agreements. It also couldn't prevent Japan from invading China.
Rising Powers and Growing Tensions
During these years, some countries started to become very powerful. The Soviet Union (which is now Russia and other countries) and Italy began to grow stronger on the world stage.
All these events – the economic changes, the struggles of the League of Nations, and the rise of new powers – created a lot of tension. These tensions eventually led to the start of World War II.
