The Inuvik (Mike Zubko) Airport (IATA: YEVICAO: CYEV) is a key airport in the Northwest Territories, Canada. It is located about 6.5 nautical miles (12 km) east of the town of Inuvik. This airport helps connect people and goods to and from this northern region.

What is this airport?

This airport is special because it is an "airport of entry." This means you can arrive here directly from another country. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has officers at the airport. They check people and goods entering Canada. However, they can only handle smaller planes with up to 15 passengers.

The airport is also used by the Royal Canadian Air Force. They use it as a "forward operating base" for their CF-18 Hornet military jets. This means it's a place where military planes can stop and operate from when needed.

Who was Mike Zubko?

The airport is named after a very important local person, Mike Zubko. He was a famous pilot who lived from 1923 to 1991. The airport was named in his honor in 1995.
