Isabel of Portugal, Lady of Viseu facts for kids
Isabella of Portugal (born 1364, died 1395) was the daughter of King Ferdinand I of Portugal. Her mother's name is not known.
Isabella's Life Story
Before 1386, Isabella was planned to marry João Afonso Telo de Menezes, who was the first Count of Viana. He was the son of a very important noble, João Afonso Telo. However, this marriage plan did not happen.
Isabella later married Alfonso Enríquez, Count of Gijón and Noreña. Alfonso was the son of King Henry II of Castile. Their marriage was an important part of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Santarém. This treaty was signed in 1373 between Portugal and Castile.
On October 1, 1377, Isabella's father, King Ferdinand I, gave her control over several important towns. These towns included Viseu, Celorico, Linhares, and Algodres.
Isabella moved to the Royal Court of King Henry II of Castile. She lived there until she was old enough to get married. She and Alfonso finally married in 1377 in the city of Burgos. This marriage was the start of the important Noronha family. This family is still found in many noble houses in both Portugal and Spain.

Isabella and Alfonso had six children:
- Pedro de Noronha (1379–1452) became the Archbishop of Lisbon. He had three sons: João, Pedro, and Fernando de Noronha.
