The Iserhoff River North is a smaller river that flows into the Iserhoff River. It is located in the Eeyou Istchee Baie-James municipality in Quebec, Canada. This area is part of the Nord-du-Québec region.

The river flows through two areas called Vignal and Bergères. You can reach the river's area by using a road called R1018. This road connects to Highway 113, which links the towns of Lebel-sur-Quévillon and Chibougamau.

The Iserhoff North River usually freezes over from early November until mid-May. However, it's safest to walk or travel on the ice from mid-November to mid-April.

The River's Beginning

The Iserhoff North River starts from a small forest stream. This stream is found near Highway 1018, at the bottom of the Waswanipi Hills.

The source of the river is located:

  • About 12.1 kilometers (7.5 miles) northwest of where the Iserhoff River meets Lake Waswanipi.
  • About 69.2 kilometers (43 miles) southeast of the town of Matagami.

The River's Journey

From its start, the Iserhoff North River flows for about 20.6 kilometers (12.8 miles). It winds and turns as it makes its way.

Here's how it flows:

  • It travels about 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) south through a marshy area.
  • Then, it goes about 1.5 kilometers (0.9 miles) south, meeting a creek.
  • It continues southeast for about 3.7 kilometers (2.3 miles) at the base of the Waswanipi Hills.
  • It flows south for about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles), curving east to drain a marsh.
  • It then turns west for about 6 kilometers (3.7 miles), meeting another creek.
  • Finally, it winds south for about 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles) until it reaches its end.

Where the River Ends

The Iserhoff North River empties into the northern side of the Iserhoff River. The Iserhoff River then flows east into the southwest part of Lake Waswanipi.

From Lake Waswanipi, the water flows north through the Waswanipi River. This river eventually reaches Goéland Lake (Waswanipi River). The Waswanipi River then continues northwest through Goéland Lake and eventually flows into Matagami Lake.
