Where the Bachelor River Starts
The Bachelor River begins at a place called Billy Lake. This lake is about 2.9 kilometers long. It is located on the southeast side of Highway 113.
How the River Flows
The Bachelor River flows for about 36.5 kilometers. Here's how its journey goes:
- It flows southwest for 6 kilometers in Lesueur Township.
- Then, it goes west for 3 kilometers through Bachelor Lake. This lake is about 3.2 kilometers long.
- After that, it continues southwest for 9.4 kilometers, crossing Highway 113.
- It then flows southwest for 4.4 kilometers, crossing the Canadian National Railway tracks.
- Next, it travels southwest for 8.2 kilometers until it meets the Little Bachelor River.
- Finally, it flows northwest for 5.5 kilometers, crossing the Canadian National Railway again, before reaching its end.
Where the River Ends
The Bachelor River flows into a narrow bay on the southeast side of Lake Waswanipi. This meeting point is near the Canadian National Railway track. From here, the water flows north into Lake Waswanipi. Then, it continues north through the Waswanipi River and eventually west into Goéland Lake. The water then moves northwest through the Waswanipi River again, which leads to Matagami Lake.
