Acting Career
Early Life and Training
Isolda Dychauk was born in 1993 in Surgut, a city in West Siberia, Russia. In 2002, she moved to Berlin, Germany, with her mother. Besides her native Russian, she learned to speak German very well, without any accent. In 2003, she joined an acting school in Berlin called Next Generation.
Her first time acting on camera was in 2004. She appeared in a short film called Gimme your shoes, directed by Anika Wangard. This film was later shown at the Vienna International Film Festival in 2009.
Television and Film Roles
In 2007, Isolda acted in the family drama Das Geheimnis meiner Schwester. She worked alongside famous actress Marianne Sägebrecht. That same year, she got the role of Paula in the TV movie Nichts ist Vergessen.
Over the next few years, Isolda appeared in several popular German TV series. These included Polizeiruf 110, Tatort, and The Old Fox.
In 2008, she got her first movie role as Bianca in Mein Freund aus Faro. This was a drama for young people, directed by Nana Neul. A big moment in her career came in 2010 when she played Gretchen in the movie Faust. This film was directed by the famous Alexander Sokurov. In September 2011, this movie, which was based on a classic play by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, won the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival. This is a very important award in the film world.
Playing Lucrezia Borgia
Isolda Dychauk became widely known for her role as Lucrezia Borgia in the TV series Borgia. This show was a big European co-production. Lucrezia Borgia's father was Rodrigo Borgia, who later became Pope Alexander VI. The American actor John Doman played her father in the series.
Filming for the first season of Borgia took place in Prague's Barrandov Studios between October 2010 and May 2011. The show was very popular, and a second season was made. The third and final season was released on Netflix in the fall of 2014.
In 2016, it was announced that Isolda would perform at the Salzburg Festival in 2017. This was her first time at this famous festival, where she appeared in a play called Lulu.
