Izvoarele Sucevei is a special type of local area in Romania called a commune. It's found in the northeastern part of the country, in a region known as Bukovina within Suceava County. This commune includes three smaller places: Bobeica, Brodina (also known as Brodina de Sus), and Izvoarele Sucevei itself.
The name "Izvoarele Sucevei" means "The Springs of Suceava." This is because the Suceava River starts its journey near this commune. In Ukrainian, the commune is called Izvory.

Where Is Izvoarele Sucevei Located?
This commune is in the northwestern part of Suceava County. It sits right on the border with Chernivtsi Oblast, which is a region in Ukraine.
Rivers Flowing Through the Commune
The Suceava River begins in the nearby Obcina Mestecăniș Mountains. It then flows through the commune from south to north. Another river, the Brodina, flows through the village of Brodina de Sus. It later joins the Suceava River in the nearby Brodina commune.

The people living in Izvoarele Sucevei come from different backgrounds. A census in 2011 showed that about 54.7% of the people were Ukrainians. The other 45.2% were Romanians.
Religious Beliefs
A census from 2002 looked at the religions of the people. Most residents, about 73.9%, were Eastern Orthodox. This is a major Christian church. About 2.7% of the people belonged to the Seventh-day Adventist church. The remaining 23.2% followed other religions.
