Júnior Osmar Ignacio Alonso Mujica (born on February 9, 1993) is a talented Paraguayan footballer. He plays as a defender, usually in the center or on the left side of the field. Júnior Alonso currently plays for the Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro and is also a key player for the Paraguay national team.

Júnior Alonso's Club Journey
Júnior Alonso has played for several big clubs throughout his career, showing his skills in different leagues.
Playing for Lille in France
In January 2017, Alonso moved to the French club Lille. He played his first game for them on February 18, 2017, helping his team win against SM Caen. He played a total of 56 matches for Lille before moving on loan in August 2018.
Loan to Celta in Spain
On August 14, 2018, Alonso joined La Liga team Celta Vigo in Spain for a year. This was a loan deal, meaning he played for them temporarily.
Loan to Boca Juniors in Argentina
Next, on January 2, 2019, he went on loan to Boca Juniors, a famous club in Argentina. While with Boca, he was part of the team that won the 2018 Supercopa Argentina on May 2, 2019. Even though he didn't play in that final match, he was there to celebrate the victory.
Joining Atlético Mineiro in Brazil
On July 2, 2020, Júnior Alonso made a permanent move to the Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro. He signed a four-year contract with them.
Time with Krasnodar in Russia
In January 2022, Alonso joined the Russian club Krasnodar. However, his time there was affected by world events. In March 2022, his contract was put on hold, and he stopped training with the team, though his contract was still valid.
Returning to Atlético Mineiro on Loan
Because of the situation in Russia, Alonso returned to Atlético Mineiro on loan on March 14, 2022. He played for them until the end of 2022.
Second Return to Atlético Mineiro
On July 10, 2024, Júnior Alonso officially rejoined Atlético Mineiro for a second time. He signed a new contract that will keep him with the club for two and a half years.
Júnior Alonso's International Career
Júnior Alonso has been a regular player for the Paraguay national team since his first game in 2013.
In a qualifying match for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on March 23, 2017, Alonso scored his first goal for Paraguay. It was the winning goal in a 2–1 victory against Ecuador.
He was also chosen to be part of Paraguay's team for the 2019 Copa América tournament in Brazil. He played in all four of Paraguay's matches, playing every minute. Paraguay reached the quarter-finals but lost to the host team, Brazil, in a penalty shootout.
