Júnior Osmar Ignacio Alonso Mujica (born on February 9, 1993) is a professional footballer from Paraguay. He plays as a defender, usually as a centre-back or a left-back. Currently, he plays for the Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro and is also a key player for the Paraguay national team.

Júnior Alonso's Football Journey
Playing for Clubs
Júnior Alonso started his football career in Paraguay. He played for the youth team of Cerro Porteño from 2011 to 2012. He then joined their senior team in 2013. He played many games for Cerro Porteño before moving to Europe.
Time in France: Lille OSC
In January 2017, Alonso moved to France to play for Lille. He made his first appearance for the club in February 2017. He played 56 matches for Lille in different competitions.
Loans to Celta and Boca Juniors
Sometimes, players move to another team for a short time. This is called a "loan." In August 2018, Alonso was loaned to La Liga club Celta Vigo in Spain. He played for them for one year.
Then, in January 2019, he was loaned to Boca Juniors, a famous club in Argentina. While at Boca, he was part of the team that won the 2018 Supercopa Argentina in 2019.
Joining Atlético Mineiro
On July 2, 2020, Alonso joined Atlético Mineiro in Brazil. He signed a four-year contract with the club. He quickly became an important player for them.
Playing in Russia: FC Krasnodar
In January 2022, Alonso moved to Russia to play for Krasnodar. However, his time there was short. In March 2022, due to world events, his contract was put on hold. This meant he stopped training with the team, but his contract was not completely ended.
Back to Atlético Mineiro
Because of the situation in Russia, Alonso returned to Atlético Mineiro on loan in March 2022. He played for them until the end of 2022.
Then, on July 10, 2024, he officially rejoined Atlético Mineiro. He signed a new contract to play for them for two and a half more years.
Playing for Paraguay
Representing His Country
Júnior Alonso has also played for his home country, Paraguay, many times. He first played for the senior national team in 2013. Playing for your country is a big honor for any footballer.
Big Moments in International Games
Alonso scored his first goal for Paraguay on March 23, 2017. It was a very important goal! He scored the winning goal in a 2–1 victory against Ecuador during a World Cup qualifying match.
In 2019, he was chosen to be part of Paraguay's team for the 2019 Copa América tournament in Brazil. He played in all four of Paraguay's matches. His team reached the quarter-finals but lost to the host country, Brazil. He also played in the 2021 Copa América and 2024 Copa América.
