Jackie James Barnes is an Australian drummer and singer. He has been performing music since he was four years old. He is the only son of famous Australian singer Jimmy Barnes and his wife Jane.

Growing Up and Learning Music

Jackie James Barnes was born in Sydney, Australia. He is the third child and only son of Jimmy Barnes and his wife Jane. His sisters are Mahalia, Eliza-Jane "E.J.", and Elly-May Barnes. Jackie was named after the famous soul singer Jackie Wilson. His family background includes Scottish-Jewish heritage from his father's side and Thai heritage from his mother's side. Jackie also has a half-brother, David Campbell, who is a singer and actor, and three half-sisters.

When Jackie was just four years old, he joined his older sisters Eliza-Jane and Mahalia in the recording studio. They sang in the children's choir for their dad's album Two Fires. Their voices can be heard on the song "When Your Love is Gone".

From the age of five, Jackie and his sisters Eliza-Jane, Elly-May, and Mahalia formed a singing group called the Tin Lids. This group recorded three albums between 1991 and 1994. All their albums sold very well, reaching platinum sales. One of their albums, Snakes & Ladders (1992), was even nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Children's Album.

After finishing high school, Jackie started touring with his father as a keyboard player. In 2005, he successfully tried out for the role of drummer and backing singer in the Jimmy Barnes Band. He then toured all over Australia and other countries with the band. He also recorded a song called "Same Woman" as a duet with his father. This song was on the 2005 album Double Happiness, which became a number one hit.

In 2010, Jackie graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree, focusing on drum performance.

Jackie's Music Career

Jackie Barnes has worked with many different artists throughout his career. Some of these include his uncle, Diesel, Keith Urban, The Dead Daisies, The Wiggles, and Glenn Hughes.

He played the drums on his father's 2007 album Out in the Blue. He also played drums on two of Jimmy Barnes' live DVDs: Max Sessions- Live at the Sydney Opera House and Live at the Enmore.

In 2013, Jackie toured around the world with an Australian classical and pop music group called the Ten Tenors. After that, he joined a rock band from Los Angeles called Heaven and Earth. He toured Europe with them, playing at big events like the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. In 2014, he joined third series winner Reece Mastin for his "Wolf in the Woods" tour in Australia. He also helped record and tour his father Jimmy Barnes' album 30:30 Hindsight. This album celebrated Jimmy's 30th year as a solo artist.

In early 2015, Jackie joined the rock supergroup the Dead Daisies to record their album Revoluciòn. Later that year, he started playing drums for the Australian blues and funk band, the Lachy Doley Group.

From 2016 onwards, Jackie began working with the popular children's music group the Wiggles. He has recorded drums on many of their albums, including their older songs. He has also helped write music for them. He worked on the Wiggles and Jimmy Barnes album Och Aye the G'nu, which came out in March 2017. His sisters Mahalia and Elly-May also sang on this album.
