Jade Ashtyn Carey (born May 27, 2000) is an American artistic gymnast. She has won many medals for the United States. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics and the 2024 Summer Olympics. At the 2024 Olympics, she was part of the U.S. women's team, known as the "Golden Girls".
Jade is famous for her skills on the vault and floor exercise. She won a gold medal on floor exercise at the 2020 Olympics. She also earned a bronze medal on vault at the 2024 Olympics. She has won many medals at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. These include a gold medal on vault in 2022. She also has two silver medals and one bronze medal on floor exercise.
Jade has won nine medals at the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup events. She was part of the gold-medal winning teams at the 2024 Olympic Games. She also helped her team win gold at the 2019 and 2022 World Championships. In college gymnastics, she competes for the Oregon State Beavers. She has won seven Pac-12 titles and five NCAA Championship medals. Jade Carey is one of the most decorated U.S. female gymnasts ever. She has ten Olympic and World Championship medals.

Jade Carey's Gymnastics Journey
Jade Carey started her elite gymnastics career in 2016. She competed at the Junior Olympics Nationals. There, a vault skill was named "The Carey" after her. This was because she performed it so well. Later that year, she was invited to her first national team training camp.
Starting Elite Gymnastics in 2017
In 2017, Jade was a Level 10 gymnast. This is just below the elite level. She trained at The Ranch and qualified for elite status.
Jade made her elite debut at the American Classic in July 2017. She won first place on vault, floor, and balance beam. Later that month, she competed at the 2017 U.S. Classic. She won first on vault and floor again. She also placed fourth on balance beam. In August, Jade competed at the 2017 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships. She won gold on vault and silver on floor exercise. This was her first time being named to the national team.
In September, Jade was chosen for the 2017 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She competed on vault and floor. She qualified for both event finals. In the finals, she won silver medals on both vault and floor exercise.
Competing in 2018
In July 2018, Jade competed at the American Classic. She performed her first elite uneven bars routine. She also competed on balance beam. Later, she made her all-around debut at the 2018 U.S. Classic. She won first on vault and second on floor.
In August, Jade competed at the 2018 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships. She finished sixth in the all-around. She also won bronze on vault and silver on floor. She was then named to the team for the 2018 Pan American Gymnastics Championships. There, she helped the team win gold. She also won gold on vault and floor exercise.
Jade decided to try and qualify for the 2020 Olympics as an individual. This meant she could not compete with the U.S. team at the 2018 World Championships. In November, she competed at the Cottbus World Cup. She won a silver medal on vault.
Success in 2019
In March 2019, Jade competed at the Baku World Cup. She upgraded her vault and won gold on both vault and floor exercise. She was the only gymnast to score over nine on both vaults. At the Doha World Cup, she also won gold medals on vault and floor. She beat her competitors by a large margin.
At the 2019 U.S. Classic in July, Jade won gold on vault. She also tied for silver on floor exercise. In August, she competed at the 2019 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships. She finished seventh in the all-around. She won silver on vault and floor exercise. She was added to the national team again.
In September, Jade was chosen for the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She helped the U.S. team qualify in first place. In the team final, she helped the USA win the gold medal. In the vault final, she won the silver medal. In November, Jade won the Swiss Cup with her partner, Allan Bower.
2020 Competitions
In February 2020, Jade competed at the Melbourne World Cup. She qualified in first place for both vault and floor finals. She won gold medals in both events.
2021 Season and Olympics
In February 2021, Jade competed at the 2021 Winter Cup. She finished second on vault. She was named to the National Team for the fourth time. At the 2021 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships, she finished sixth in the all-around. She qualified for the Olympic Trials.
2020 Tokyo Olympics
At the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Jade performed well in qualifications. She qualified for the vault final and the floor exercise final. She also qualified for the all-around final.
In the all-around final, Jade finished eighth. In the vault final, she had a mistake on her first vault and finished last. However, the next day, Jade won the gold medal in the floor exercise final. She became the third American champion in this event.
After the Olympics, August 17 was named "Jade Carey Day" in Phoenix, Arizona. She also joined the "Gold Over America Tour."
2022 Return to Elite Gymnastics
Jade returned to elite gymnastics at the 2022 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships in August. She finished fifth in the all-around. She won first on vault and second on floor exercise. She was named to the national team again. She was also named USA Gymnastics Athlete of the Year.
In September, Jade competed at the Paris World Challenge Cup. She won gold on vault and silver on balance beam. In October, Jade was chosen for the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She helped the USA team win gold in the team final. She also qualified for the all-around, vault, and floor exercise finals.
In the all-around final, Jade placed sixth. On the first day of event finals, she won gold on vault. This was her first individual world title. On the last day, she won bronze on floor exercise. With these medals, Jade became one of the most decorated American female gymnasts.
2023 Competitions
In September 2023, Jade won the bronze medal for vault at the 2023 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships. In November, she competed at the 2023 Swiss Cup Zürich. She and her partner, Yul Moldauer, won first place.
2024 Olympic Year
Jade started 2024 by winning the all-around at the American Classic. She then placed fourth in the all-around at the 2024 U.S. Classic and won gold on vault. At the 2024 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships, she placed seventh all-around and third on vault. This qualified her for the Olympic trials.
At the Olympic trials, Jade placed fourth in the all-around. She won first on vault and second on floor exercise. She was then selected to represent the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
2024 Paris Olympics
At the Olympic Games in Paris, Jade competed on floor exercise and vault during qualifications. She had some mistakes on floor but bounced back on vault. She qualified for the vault final in third place. The U.S. team also qualified for the team final in first place.
In the team final, Jade scored 14.800 on vault. This helped the U.S. team win their fourth Olympic team gold medal. In the vault final, she scored 14.466 to win the bronze medal. This was her third Olympic medal.
College Gymnastics Career
Jade committed to compete in NCAA gymnastics for Oregon State University. She officially signed with the Oregon State Beavers in 2017. She started competing for them after the 2020 Olympics.
2021–2022 College Season
Jade made her college debut on January 15, 2022. She competed on all four events. She won the all-around, vault, uneven bars, and floor exercise titles. She also shared the balance beam title. Jade performed many elite-level skills in her routines.
She was able to earn money from her name, image, and likeness (NIL). She reportedly got one of the biggest deals among Oregon university athletes.
On January 23, Jade scored 39.800 in the all-around. This broke Oregon State's previous all-around record. She won all five titles at the meet. She was named Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week and Freshman of the Week. She continued to win many titles throughout the season. On February 5, she scored her first perfect ten on uneven bars. Her all-around score of 39.825 broke her own record. She earned another perfect ten on floor exercise on February 13.
Jade was named Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year and Freshman of the Year. At the Pac-12 Championships, she won the all-around title. She also shared the floor exercise title. She qualified for the NCAA Championship as an individual. At the NCAA Championship, she had the highest all-around score in her semi-final.
2022–2023 College Season
Jade started her 2023 season on January 6. The next week, she scored two perfect 10s on vault and floor exercise. She was named Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week. On March 4, she earned her first perfect ten on balance beam. This made her the thirteenth gymnast to achieve a "gym slam." A gym slam means scoring a perfect 10.0 on all four events.
At the Pac-12 Championships, Jade won the all-around title for the second year in a row. She also shared titles on balance beam and floor exercise. She was named Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year again. She qualified for the 2023 NCAA Championship on balance beam. She finished as co-runner up on the event.
2023–2024 College Season
After the 2023 season, Jade decided to continue college gymnastics while also aiming for the 2024 Olympic team. She competed in fewer events for the 2024 season. At the Pac-12 Championships, she won her first perfect 10 of the season on floor exercise. She also shared the uneven bars title. She was the all-around runner-up.
Jade qualified as an all-around individual for the NCAA National Championships. She finished second in the all-around. She also placed second on floor exercise and third on balance beam.
2024–2025 College Season
After the 2024 Olympics, Jade announced she would return to Oregon State for her senior year. She started her 2025 season at the Pacific Coast Challenge. She won the all-around and balance beam titles. She also shared the floor exercise title.
On January 11, she won all four event titles in a meet. The next week, she won the all-around again with a score of 39.800. She continued to win many all-around titles throughout the season. On March 15, Oregon State's Senior Night, Jade scored a career-best 39.925 in the all-around. She scored perfect 10.0s on balance beam and floor exercise. This made her the fourth NCAA gymnast to achieve a second "Gym Slam." Her score of 39.925 was the fourth best all-around score in NCAA history.
Jade was named one of the six finalists for the AAI Award. This award recognizes the top senior female gymnast in the nation. Oregon State competed in the Alabama Regional. Jade's all-around score was the highest in the semi-final. She helped Oregon State advance to the regional final. She qualified for the 2025 NCAA Championships as an individual. Before the championships, Jade was awarded the AAI Award. She is the fourth gymnast from Oregon State to win this award.
Perfect 10.0 Scores
Jade Carey is one of only four gymnasts to achieve the NCAA Gym Slam multiple times. This means she scored a perfect 10.0 on all four events at least twice.

About Jade Carey
Jade Carey was born and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. Her parents, Brian Carey and Danielle Mitchell-Greenberg, owned a gym. This allowed Jade to start gymnastics at a very young age in 2002.
She went to Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale, Arizona. She graduated in 2018. In early 2024, Jade was honored and inducted into the Mountain Ridge Athletics Hall of Fame.
