Jade Winston Dernbach (born 3 March 1986) is a former professional cricket player. He was born in South Africa but played for both England and Italy.

Jade played for the Surrey team from 2003 to 2021. He also represented England from 2011 to 2014 and Italy in 2021.

He started his top-level cricket career in 2003. Jade won the NBC Denis Compton Award twice, in 2004 and 2009. In 2021, he became eligible to play for the Italy national cricket team.

Jade moved to England when he was 14 years old. This allowed him to play for the England cricket team. He became known for his fast bowling style. He could make the ball swing in different ways. He also used slower balls to trick the batters.

Jade's Early Life

Jade Dernbach was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. His father was South African, and his mother was Italian. He has an Italian passport.

When he was 14, in the year 2000, Jade moved to England with his family. In South Africa, his favorite sport was rugby union. But in England, he started to focus on cricket.

He joined the Surrey team's youth program. He quickly moved up through the different age groups.

After being chosen for the England team, Jade said that England was his home. He felt he owed everything to English cricket. He wanted to give his best to the country that had given him so much.

Playing for Surrey

Jade's strong and consistent bowling for Surrey earned him a spot. He joined the England Lions tour to the West Indies in 2011.

Later that year, he was called up to the England squad for the 2011 Cricket World Cup. This was a big achievement for him. He was the first player from Surrey's youth academy to reach this level.

Jade continued to play well for Surrey whenever he could. In 2011, he was named Man of the Match in the CB40 Final. His great bowling helped Surrey win the game.

In 2013, Jade was very successful in Surrey's T20 games. He took 18 wickets, which means he got 18 batters out. This helped Surrey reach the Finals Day for the first time since 2006.

In July 2021, Jade joined Derbyshire for a short time. He played in some T20 Blast games. Later that month, it was announced that he would leave Surrey. This was because he wasn't getting enough playing time.

Jade's International Career

In 2010, Jade was chosen for the England Performance Programme tour in Australia. He also went on the England Lions tour to the West Indies. There, he took 19 wickets. This made him the best English bowler on that tour.

He was called to the main England team for the 2011 Cricket World Cup. This happened when another player, Ajmal Shahzad, got injured. However, Jade did not play in any matches during that World Cup.

Later, he played for the Lions against the Sri Lankans. He took 9 wickets in that match. After this, he was added to the senior England squad. This was because James Anderson was injured.

Jade made his first international appearance in a Twenty20 game. He took 1 wicket for 18 runs. Then, in his first One Day International (ODI), he took 2 wickets for 25 runs. Both of these games were against Sri Lanka.

Jade was also part of the England ODI team that played against Ireland in August 2011. Overall, he played 24 ODI matches and 34 T20 matches for England.

In the 2012 ICC World T20, Jade and Steven Finn set a record. They had the highest partnership for the 10th wicket in the tournament.

Jade announced his retirement from international cricket in July 2019. This was five years after his last T20 International game for England.

In September 2021, Jade was chosen for the Italy squad. He played in the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier. He made his T20 International debut for Italy on 15 October 2021. This game was against Denmark.
