Jaden McDaniels (born September 29, 2000) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Before joining the NBA, Jaden played college basketball for the Washington Huskies. In high school, he was a top player. He was even named a McDonald's All-American. Jaden is also the younger brother of fellow basketball player Jalen McDaniels.

Jaden's High School Basketball Journey
Jaden McDaniels played basketball at Federal Way High School in Federal Way, Washington. As a freshman, he played alongside his older brother, Jalen. Together, they helped Federal Way win their second straight state championship.
During his first two years, Jaden's team won 63 games in a row. This was the longest winning streak in state history since 1977.
Becoming a Top Player
In his junior year, Jaden led Federal Way to a second-place finish at the state tournament. He averaged 21.3 points, 10 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 3.3 blocks per game. He was recognized as one of the best players in Washington.
As a senior, Jaden had an amazing game where he scored 51 points. This broke his school's record! He finished his senior year averaging 23.3 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks per game. He was named the Class 4A Player of the Year. He also played in the famous McDonald's All-American Game.
College Career at Washington
When Jaden started college, many people thought he might be a top pick in the 2020 NBA draft. In his very first college game, he scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He scored a season-high 22 points in another game.
As a freshman, Jaden averaged 13 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. After this season, he decided to enter the NBA draft.
Jaden's Professional NBA Career
Joining the Minnesota Timberwolves
In the 2020 NBA draft, the Los Angeles Lakers chose Jaden as the 28th overall pick. He was then traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder and later to the Minnesota Timberwolves. This is where he plays today.
On April 9, 2023, Jaden hurt his right hand after hitting a wall. This happened after a game where the Timberwolves won.
On October 23, 2023, Jaden signed a big five-year contract extension with the Timberwolves. It was worth $136 million!
During a game on November 14, Jaden was involved in an on-court incident. He was ejected from the game and later fined for what happened.
On April 23, 2024, Jaden scored a playoff career-high 25 points. This helped the Timberwolves win against the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs. The Timberwolves swept the Suns, meaning they won every game in that series.
Jaden was also named to the 2023-2024 NBA All-Defensive Second Team. This means he is one of the best defensive players in the league!

Jaden's Family Life
Jaden's older brother, Jalen McDaniels, is also a professional basketball player. Jalen played for Federal Way High School too. He was chosen by the Charlotte Hornets in the 2019 NBA draft. Jaden is also a cousin of former NBA player Juwan Howard. Both of Jaden's parents, Will McDaniels and Angela Jackson, are from Chicago.
