Jadranka Đokić (born on January 14, 1981) is a famous actress from Croatia. She is known for her amazing performances in plays, movies, and TV shows. Many people think she is one of the best actresses in Croatia.

Jadranka has starred in many popular movies like Fine Dead Girls, Sorry for Kung Fu, and The Priest's Children. She won a special award called the Golden Arena for Best Actress in 2008 for her role in the movie Behind the Glass. On TV, she became very popular as nurse Helga in Naša mala klinika. She also played main roles in Luda kuća, Moja 3 zida, and Ko te šiša. Jadranka has also lent her voice to many cartoon characters, like Terk in the Croatian version of Tarzan.

Early Life and Education

Jadranka Đokić was born in a city called Pula in Croatia on January 14, 1981. She grew up in a neighborhood near the famous Pula Arena. As a teenager, she loved going to the theatre.

After finishing school in Pula, Jadranka went to the Academy of Dramatic Art, University of Zagreb. This is a special school where she studied acting. She earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree from there.

Theatre Performances

Jadranka started acting in a drama studio in Pula. She learned a lot from her mentor, Robert Raponja. She often performed in plays by the famous writer William Shakespeare, such as Othello and Hamlet.

After joining the Academy of Dramatic Art, she got her first professional acting job in a play called Spring Awakening. In 2011, she won the Croatian Theatre Award for Best Actress for her role in Ovo bi mogla biti moja ulica. This play was shown in many cities, including Zagreb, Rome, and Berlin.

In 2018, she played the character Cordelia in a play called King Lear at the HNK Zagreb theatre. For her amazing work in another play directed by Vasilij Senin, she won the Vladimir Nazor Award and another Croatian Actor Award for Best Actress.

Television Roles

Many people know Jadranka from her role as nurse Helga in the comedy TV show Naša mala klinika. This show was very popular in Croatia from 2004 to 2009. She even won two Večernji List Screen Awards for being the best actress in a comedy show. Critics loved her funny and emotional character.

Besides nurse Helga, Jadranka also starred in other long-running Croatian sitcoms. These include Luda kuća, Moja 3 zida, and Ko te šiša. From 2009 to 2011, she acted in Moja 3 zida, which was filmed right in her own apartment! For her role as Lili the hairdresser in Ko te šiša, she received a lot of praise.

She also appeared in Kada zvoni? and played a supporting role in the children's TV show Žutokljunac.

Film Appearances

Jadranka's first movie role was in 1999 in a film called Šverceri hlapić. Her first role that got a lot of attention from critics was in Fine Dead Girls. After that, she played Zorica in the drama film Sorry for Kung Fu.

In 2007, she played the main character, Klara, in the movie Pusti me da spavam. She became even more successful with the movie Behind the Glass. For this role, she won the Golden Arena for Best Actress, which is like the top acting award in Croatia. Many people consider her performance in this movie to be one of the best in Croatian film history.

In 2009, she starred in Metastases and Storm. An American critic, Stephen Holden, even praised her acting in Storm.

Jadranka has also done a lot of voice acting for animated movies. In 2012, she voiced a character in Inspector Martin and the Gang of Snails. She is well-known for dubbing movies into Croatian, including The Lion King, the Kung Fu Panda movies, the Tarzan films, and The Incredibles.

In 2013, Jadranka played a pregnant island woman named Ana in the movie The Priest's Children. This movie was a huge hit and had the best opening week for a Croatian film since 1991.

Other Work and Recognition

Jadranka has also appeared in commercials for HPB (a bank) and in a music video. She also helps teach acting at the Academy of Dramatic Art, University of Zagreb.

In 2010, a magazine called Globus named her one of the top actresses in Croatian film. Throughout her career, which has lasted over twenty years, she has won many awards. These include five Croatian Theatre Awards for Best Actress, the Golden Arena for Best Actress, and many more! She was also named "Actress of the Year" by Teatar.hr twice.

Personal Life

Jadranka Đokić loves to read books. She enjoys the works of many authors, including Marguerite Duras and Fyodor Dostoyevski. She lives in Zagreb, Croatia.
