Playing for Clubs

Starting with Emelec

Jaime Ayoví began his football journey at a smaller club called Paladín "S". In 2006, his cousin, Walter Ayoví, suggested he try out for Emelec. Jaime impressed the team and signed a four-year contract when he was 18 years old.

Even though he was tall, Jaime started playing as a winger. He was very skilled and fast. He liked to run along the sides of the field where there was more room to move.

In 2009, he was loaned to Manta to get more playing time. He played well, scoring 7 goals in 32 matches. Emelec planned to loan him again. However, the new manager, Jorge Sampaoli, saw Jaime's videos. He asked Jaime to stay with the team for the 2010 season.

Jaime quickly became Sampaoli's top choice for attack. He scored important goals for Emelec. He helped Emelec win the first part of the 2010 Ecuadorian tournament. This led them to the final match in December 2010.

Moving to Toluca

After the 2010 season, Jaime decided to join Toluca, a Mexican team. He signed a three-year deal. He scored his first goal in his second game against Chiapas. On February 13, he scored again in a big 5–0 win against Querétaro.

He also scored in a home game against Necaxa. On February 13, Jaime scored an amazing header against Santos Laguna. Toluca won that game 3–1. His last goal for Toluca was on April 3. It was a great solo effort that helped tie the game 1–1 against Monterrey.

Playing for Pachuca

After only half a season, Jaime impressed the manager of Pachuca. Pachuca wanted to sign him for their team. His first goal for Pachuca was on June 31. It was in a 2–2 tie against Puebla FC.

He scored three more goals that season. These were against Cruz Azul, Estudiantes Tecos, and Atlante FC. The next season, he scored four goals. These were against Puebla, Cruz Azul, Querétaro, and Chivas de Guadalajara. Because of his performance, he was loaned to Al Nassr, a club in Saudi Arabia.

Loan to Al Nassr FC

Jaime Ayoví joined Al Nassr on a loan. On September 29, he scored his first goal for Al Nassr. They won 3–1 against Al Wahda. He scored 7 more goals for Al Nassr. This included two games where he scored two goals.

He scored doubles against Al Faisaly and Al Taawon. His season in Saudi Arabia ended early because of an injury. He was unable to play for eight months. He finished his time with Al Nassr with 8 goals in 15 matches.

Joining Club Tijuana

The Mexican football club Xolos de Tijuana signed Jaime Ayoví. They agreed to loan him to LDU Quito in Ecuador. This was so he could fully recover from his injury.

Playing for LDU Quito

Jaime Ayoví wore the number 11 jersey during his year at LDU Quito. On August 17, he scored his first goals. This was in a 2–2 home tie against Independiente del Valle. On September 22, he scored his third goal in a 1–1 home tie against Macara.

On October 3, he scored again in a 1–1 home tie versus Deportivo Quito. On October 27, Jaime scored his fifth goal with LDU Quito. This was in a 2–1 home win over LDU Loja. On November 10, Jaime scored two goals in one game. This was in a 3–1 home win over Deportivo Quevedo.

Return to Tijuana and Loan to Godoy Cruz

On March 7, 2014, Ayoví scored his first goal for Tijuana. This was against Guadalajara in a 2-0 home win. On July 17, 2014, it was confirmed that Ayoví would no longer play for Tijuana. He was then loaned to Godoy Cruz for six months.

Later Club Moves

On February 20, 2017, Ayoví joined Beijing Renhe, a team in the Chinese League One. Later, on January 5, 2023, Ayoví moved to Gençlerbirliği. This is a club in the TFF First League in Turkey. He signed a contract for one and a half years.

Playing for His Country

Jaime Ayoví was chosen to play for the Ecuador national team. This was by the new manager, Reinaldo Rueda. His first game was against Mexico on September 4, 2010. Jaime played very well and scored Ecuador's second goal. This helped Ecuador win the game 2–1.
