Walter Orlando Ayoví Corozo, born on August 11, 1979, is a famous former football player from Ecuador. He played as a left winger or a left defender. Walter Ayoví was known for his strong play with the Ecuador national team. He also played for many clubs, including Club Deportivo El Nacional and Club de Futbol Monterrey. His cousin, Jaime Ayoví, is also a football player. Walter also has Mexican citizenship. He last played for the Monterrey Flash in 2022.

Walter Ayoví's Club Career
Playing for Emelec
Walter Ayoví started his professional football journey in Ecuador. He played for Emelec before moving to Barcelona Sporting Club in 2002. Even though some European clubs like Mainz 05 and Arminia Bielefeld were interested in him, Ayoví stayed in Ecuador. He played for Barcelona SC until 2006.
Time with El Nacional
After his time at Barcelona SC, Ayoví joined El Nacional. During this period, he also had a short loan spell with Al Wasl Club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Joining Monterrey
In 2009, Walter Ayoví was loaned to Club de Futbol Monterrey in Mexico. He quickly made an impact, scoring his first goal for the team on February 6, 2009. Monterrey was so impressed that they decided to buy him permanently in March 2009. He became a key player for the club and renewed his contract in December 2011.
Moving to Pachuca and Dorados
After several successful seasons with Monterrey, Ayoví moved to Pachuca in 2013. He played there for two seasons. In July 2015, he signed with Dorados de Sinaloa, a newly promoted team. He joined his fellow Ecuadorian players, Marcos Caicedo, Segundo Castillo, and Christian Suárez, at Dorados.
Return to Monterrey
Walter Ayoví returned to his former club, Rayados de Monterrey, in December 2015. He continued to play an important role for the team.
Playing for Monterrey Flash
In June 2022, Ayoví made a return to professional football. He signed with the Monterrey Flash, an indoor soccer team in the Major Arena Soccer League.

Walter Ayoví had a long and successful career playing for the Ecuador national team.
Early World Cup Experiences
He was chosen for the Ecuador squad for the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan and South Korea. He was one of the youngest players on the team but did not play in any matches. Ayoví was a regular player for Ecuador during the qualifiers for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. However, he was surprisingly not included in the final squad for that tournament.
Copa América and World Cup Qualifiers
Ayoví was called up for the 2007 Copa América. He scored a great free kick goal against Colombia in a friendly match before the tournament. He played in two matches during the Copa América.
He became a very important player for Ecuador in the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup. He scored two goals against Peru in a big 5–1 win. On June 11, 2009, he scored against Argentina, helping Ecuador win 2–0.
2014 FIFA World Cup
During the qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup, Ayoví played in all 16 of Ecuador's games. His strong performance helped the team qualify for the tournament finals in Brazil. At the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Ayoví played every minute of Ecuador's three group stage matches as a left back.
Reaching 100 Caps
On March 31, 2015, Walter Ayoví played his 100th international match for Ecuador. This was a friendly game against Argentina in New Jersey. Later that year, he was part of Ecuador's squad for the 2015 Copa América. He was the captain for Ecuador's first match in the tournament against Chile.
