James Harvey Blood (December 29, 1833 – December 29, 1885) was an American soldier and politician. He served as an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was a Commander of the 6th Missouri Volunteer Infantry. After the war, he became involved in politics. He was also known as the second husband of Victoria Woodhull. She was a famous activist who worked for women's right to vote. Victoria Woodhull was also the first woman to run for President of the United States.

Military Service and Politics

James Harvey Blood played an important role in the American Civil War. He was a brave officer in the Union Army. He started as a lieutenant colonel and was later promoted to colonel. This meant he led many soldiers.

After the war, Blood moved into politics. He was elected as the city auditor of St. Louis. A city auditor is someone who checks the city's money and records. This job helps make sure the city's finances are managed correctly.

Life with Victoria Woodhull

In 1865, James Harvey Blood married Victoria Woodhull. She was a well-known figure in the 1800s. Victoria was famous for speaking out about women's rights. She believed women should have the right to vote and be involved in politics.

James and Victoria moved to New York City in 1867. They were both very active in public life. Their marriage ended in 1876.

Later Years and Adventures

After his marriage to Victoria Woodhull ended, James Harvey Blood married his third wife, Isabell Morrill Fogg.

James Blood later traveled to Akanten, which is in the country of Gold Coast in Africa. He went there on an expedition to find gold. He was successful and found gold during his trip. Sadly, he passed away in Akanten on his 52nd birthday in 1885.
