Band's Journey

Early Days as Kara's Flowers (1994-2001)

The band we know as Maroon 5 started in 1994. Back then, they were a grunge band from Los Angeles, California. The original members were singer Adam Levine, guitarist Jesse Carmichael, drummer Ryan Dusick, and bassist Michael Madden.

In 1997, the group signed a record deal with Reprise Records. They released their first studio album called The Fourth World. Later, in 2001, James Valentine joined the band as a guitarist.

Becoming Maroon 5 and First Success (2002-2010)

After some changes, the band officially became Maroon 5. Their first album under this new name was Songs About Jane, released in 2002. This album helped them become very famous.

In 2006, Ryan Dusick left the band. Matt Flynn then became their new drummer.

Big Hits and New Albums (2011-Present)

On June 22, 2011, Maroon 5 released a very popular song called "Moves Like Jagger". This song featured pop singer Christina Aguilera. It was released to promote the NBC TV show The Voice. The song quickly became number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Around this time, Adam Levine, the band's lead singer, won the first American season of The Voice with his singing partner Javier Colon.

The band continued to work on new music. On March 26, 2012, Rolling Stone magazine announced their fourth studio album. It was called Overexposed and came out on June 26, 2012. The band worked with famous producers like Max Martin and Ryan Tedder for this album. The first song from Overexposed was "Payphone", released on April 17, 2012.
