Jamie D. McCourt (born December 5, 1953) is an American businesswoman and former diplomat. She served as the United States Ambassador to France and Monaco from 2017 to 2021. Before becoming an ambassador, she was a top executive for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. She was the highest-ranking woman in Major League Baseball for a time.

Early Life
Jamie McCourt was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Her family was Jewish. Her father, Jack Luskin, owned a chain of appliance stores. When she was 17, she started college at Georgetown University. There, she met Frank McCourt, whom she later married in 1979.
Education
Jamie McCourt has several impressive degrees. She earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in French from Georgetown University in 1975. She then studied law and received a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1978. Later, she earned a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management. She also studied at La Sorbonne in Paris and learned about cooking in Aix-en-Provence, France.
Career Highlights
For 15 years, Jamie McCourt worked as a lawyer. She focused on international and business law in New York City. She also handled corporate and real estate law in Boston. After that, she spent ten years as a vice president and general counsel for the McCourt Co. This was her family's real estate development business in Boston.
In 2004, she moved to Los Angeles. She joined the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team's leadership after the team was bought.
In 2008, the McCourts bought the Los Angeles Marathon.
McCourt also taught at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Her class, "The Pursuit of Leadership: A Female Perspective," was very popular. It was designed to help women develop leadership skills.
In 2009, she started her own company, Jamie Enterprises. Through this company, she invested in real estate, biotech, and tech startups. Some of her investments included ZipCar, Kite Pharma, and Heal.
In 2013, she bought a large vineyard estate in Napa Valley, California. She planned to live there part-time and continue making wine from the property.
McCourt has also given speeches at universities like MIT, Harvard, and Columbia. She encourages women to be financially independent and manage their own money.
In 2016, she was involved in the political campaign for Donald Trump. She served on his Transition Finance Committee after he was elected president.
Leading the Los Angeles Dodgers
In 2004, the McCourts bought the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. From 2004 to 2012, Jamie McCourt held important leadership roles with the team. She started as vice chairman, then became president in 2005, and finally CEO in 2009.
Under her leadership, the Dodgers achieved great success. The team set a new record for attendance in a single season. They also won back-to-back division titles, which had not happened in 30 years.
Later, there was a change in the team's ownership. Jamie McCourt received a settlement and gave up her claims on the team. Three months later, the Dodgers were sold for a large sum of money.
Giving Back
Jamie McCourt is also known for her philanthropy, which means giving money and time to help others. She focuses on supporting business education, modern art, and the worldwide Jewish community.

United States Ambassador
On August 2, 2017, President Donald Trump nominated Jamie McCourt to be the Ambassador to France and Monaco. The Senate approved her nomination on November 2, 2017.
She was officially sworn in on December 11, 2017. On December 18, 2017, she presented her credentials to French President Emmanuel Macron. This officially began her role as ambassador. She served as ambassador until January 20, 2021, when President Joe Biden took office.
