James Oldaker (born September 5, 1951 – died July 16, 2020) was an American drummer and percussionist. He was famous for playing rock, blues rock, and country music. Jamie, as he was known, worked with many well-known musicians during his career.

Jamie Oldaker's Early Life and Music
Jamie Oldaker was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. One of his first bands was called the Rogues Five. This band became popular in their local area in the mid-1960s. They even opened concerts for famous groups like the Doors. The Rogues Five also regularly appeared on a local TV show called Dance Party.
Jamie Oldaker's Career Highlights
After playing with Bob Seger's band for a while, Jamie joined Leon Russell's band. Then, Eric Clapton asked him to play drums on his album 461 Ocean Boulevard. Jamie stayed with Eric Clapton's band for many years, from 1974 to 1979. He rejoined Clapton's band in 1983. He played on the album Behind the Sun and performed at the huge Live Aid concert in 1985.
After leaving Clapton's band again, Jamie briefly joined Frehley's Comet. This was a band started by Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley. Jamie played on their 1988 album Second Sighting. He was also a member of the country music band, The Tractors.
Jamie Oldaker recorded music with many different artists. These included the Bellamy Brothers, Asleep at the Wheel, Peter Frampton, Stephen Stills, Leon Russell, Ace Frehley, Freddie King, and the Bee Gees. In 2005, Jamie released his own album called Mad Dogs & Okies. This album celebrated the music and musicians from Oklahoma. Famous artists like Eric Clapton, Vince Gill, and Willie Nelson helped him with this project. The album was re-released in 2019.

Jamie Oldaker cared a lot about his hometown of Tulsa. He helped with the building of the OKPOP museum, which celebrates Oklahoma's pop culture. He and his wife, Mary, also hosted an event called MOJO Fest. This event raised money for the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless.
Jamie Oldaker faced a health battle in the 2010s. He passed away on July 16, 2020, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 68. He is remembered by his wife, Mary, and his two children, Andrew and Olivia.
