Jamnica plus LLC is a famous Croatian company that makes drinks. It is best known for its fizzy mineral water, also called Jamnica. The company also produces other bottled waters and soft drinks. It was founded a long time ago, on October 18, 1828. Today, it is part of a larger company called the Fortenova Group.
Jamnica has grown into one of Europe's most modern drink makers. It uses new technology to produce over 600 million litres of drinks every year. This makes it the biggest producer in its part of Europe. The company includes the Jamnica bottling plant in Pisarovina and the Jana bottling plant in Gorica Svetojanska.
Besides the famous Jamnica mineral water, the company makes many other popular drinks. These include Jana, Jana Ice Tea, Jana Vitamin, Sensation, Sky Cola, and ProSport.

The Story of Jamnica
The history of Jamnica mineral water began in the 18th century. As far back as 1772, the Empress Maria Theresa had the water tested. That same year, it was officially recognized as a special mineral water.
The First Bottles
The company started selling bottled Jamnica water on October 18, 1828. This date is still celebrated as Jamnica Day. Soon after, a health spa was opened in the town of Jamnica, where people could relax and drink the water.
During the 1860s, the spa was visited by important Croatian people. This included Bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer and the politician Ante Starčević. The writer August Harambašić also stayed there and wrote a famous slogan for Jamnica:
"Drinking Jamnica water when you’re young and old will extend your life and keep your heartbeat bright and bold."
—(August Harambašić)
Growing and Changing
Towards the end of the 19th century, Jamnica was sold to Vilim Lovrenčić. He updated the bottling factory and improved how the water was sold. Production continued until World War II, when it had to stop for a while.
In 1961, another company took over the springs and started production again. New springs were found, and the factory was updated with modern machines. In 1986, a new drink called Sprint tonic was created for athletes.
Jamnica in Modern Times
Jamnica became its own company in 1990. During the Croatian War of Independence in the early 1990s, the factory was damaged. After the war, the company was rebuilt and became a joint-stock company. A new owner, Agrokor, invested a lot of money to repair and modernize the factory.
New Ideas and Products
In 1993, Jamnica bought new bottling machines and trucks to deliver its drinks all over Croatia. In 1994, the company started using the plastic PET bottles that are common today. A year later, it also began selling a non-carbonated (not fizzy) version of Jamnica water.
Over the years, Jamnica has added many new drinks.
- In 1999, it started making fruit juices called Juicy.
- In 2002, it launched the natural spring water Jana.
- In 2008, it introduced Jamnica Sensation, a flavoured mineral water, and Jamnica Pro Sport, an isotonic drink for athletes.
The company also grew by buying other drink companies. In 2000, it bought Sarajevski kiseljak in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It also owns the Fonyodi brand in Hungary and the Mivela brand in Serbia.

Jana: A Special Water
Jana is one of Jamnica's most famous brands. This natural mineral water comes from a very deep spring, about 800 meters underground. The spring is located under ancient rocks, which gives the water a unique mix of minerals, especially calcium and magnesium.
Jana's water comes from the Žumberak Mountains in Croatia. People describe its taste as smooth and fresh. It has won many awards for its high quality. In 2005, it won the Eauscar award in Paris. In 2022, it won the Grand Gold Quality Award from the International Quality Institute.
