Janesville is a small city located in Waseca County, Minnesota, in the United States. It's a friendly community where people live and work. In 2020, about 2,421 people called Janesville home.
The city is served by U.S. Highway 14, which runs east and west just south of town. Another important road, County Road 3 (also known as Main Street), goes north and south through Janesville. At the spot where County Road 3 and old Highway 14 meet, there's a four-way stop that used to be a traffic light.

History of Janesville: How the City Began
Janesville was first started in 1856. A post office opened there in 1858, helping people send and receive mail. The city got its name from Mrs. Jane Sprague, who was one of the first people to settle in the area. Janesville officially became a city in 1870.
The city has two special places that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are important historical sites in the United States. One is the Hofmann Apiaries, which started in 1907 and was a place where bees were kept for honey. The other is the Janesville Free Public Library, built in 1912, which has served the community for over a century.
