Janice Boddy studied at several universities to become an anthropologist. She earned her first degree, a Bachelor of Arts (BA), from McGill University. She then received her Master of Arts (MA) degree from the University of Calgary. In 1982, she completed her highest degree, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), from the University of British Columbia.

Special Recognition and Awards

Janice Boddy received a special honor when she was chosen to join the Royal Society of Canada. This society is a group of Canada's most respected scholars, artists, and scientists. She was the first woman from the University of Toronto Scarborough campus to be selected for this honor. Another woman from the same university, Lisa Jeffrey, was also elected to the Royal Society of Canada in 2007.
