Janice Dean was born in Canada on May 9, 1970. She is a TV host, weather presenter, and author who lives in New York City. You might know her from Fox News, where she helps host Fox & Friends and gives the weather report.

Janice Dean's Career Journey

Janice grew up in Ottawa, Canada. She studied radio and TV broadcasting at Algonquin College. Before working in TV, she was a bylaw officer in Canada. Later, she worked at different radio and TV stations. These included CHEZ-FM and WCBS-TV. Eventually, she joined Fox News.

In 2009, Janice received the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society. This Seal shows that someone is good at sharing weather information. It is not the same as a meteorology degree. The program that gave out these Seals is no longer accepting new applications.

Janice has also written a series of children's books. These books are about a character named Freddy the Frogcaster. She has written other books too. Her first book, Mostly Sunny, came out in 2019. Her second book, Make Your Own Sunshine, was released in 2021.

Speaking Out About Nursing Homes

Janice Dean's father-in-law and mother-in-law both lived in nursing homes in New York. Sadly, they both passed away from COVID-19. Janice believed their deaths were linked to a state rule. This rule allowed nursing homes to admit residents without testing them for the virus.

Because of this, Janice became a strong voice. She spoke out against Governor Andrew Cuomo and the lack of news coverage. She felt that some news outlets were not reporting enough on the nursing home situation. She also mentioned that Governor Cuomo's brother, Chris Cuomo, interviewed him on TV. Janice felt this interview was not sensitive to the situation.

Some people who worked with the Governor tried to make Janice's comments seem unimportant. It was reported that they planned to try and discredit her.

Janice Dean's Personal Life

In 2007, Janice married Sean Newman. Sean works for the New York City Fire Department. They have two sons together, named Matthew and Theodore.

Janice was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2005. This is a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord.
