Jarmar Antwion Julien, born on December 11, 1979, is a former American football player. He was a running back, which means he carried the ball for his team. Jarmar played college football for San Jose State. He also played one season in the NFL for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2002.
Early Life and College Football
Jarmar grew up in San Jose, California. He went to Oak Grove High School. In his final year of high school in 1997, he was recognized as one of the top players by USA Today.
In 1998, Jarmar started at San Jose State University. He began playing for the San Jose State Spartans football team in 1999. He played as a starter at both cornerback and strong safety. He made 21 tackles and defended four passes that year. He also caught one pass for eight yards. Plus, he returned 12 kickoffs for 158 yards.
In 2000, Jarmar switched to offense. He became a tailback. He ran for 561 yards and scored eight touchdowns. He also caught eight passes for 87 yards and one touchdown. He gained 501 yards returning kickoffs.
His best college season was in 2001. He ran for 820 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. He also had 108 receiving yards. Because of his great performance, he was named to the second-team All-Western Athletic Conference.
Playing in the NFL
Jarmar decided to leave college early to try for the 2002 NFL draft. However, no team chose him in the draft. On April 29, 2002, he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a player who was not drafted.
He missed the preseason and the start of the regular season due to an ankle injury. After recovering, Jarmar spent some time on the practice squad. In December, he was moved to the main team. He played on special teams in the last two games of the season. He made one tackle during this time. The Chiefs released Jarmar after the 2003 preseason.
Jarmar tried to return to football in 2005. He joined the Oakland Raiders. They sent him to NFL Europe in February 2005. But he was cut from the team a month later.
