Jarrod Wesley Pughsley (born December 18, 1990) is a former American football player. He was an offensive guard in the National Football League (NFL). Jarrod played for the Kansas City Chiefs.

He also played football and basketball in high school. He went to Lima Senior High School in Lima, Ohio. Jarrod then played college football at Akron. He was a key player there for four years. In 2013, he was named third-team All-MAC. He played in 35 college games, starting 23 of them.

After college, he joined the Dallas Cowboys in 2014. An injury led to his release that year. He then joined the Chiefs and played in two regular season games. He also played in one playoff game in 2015. Later, he was briefly with the Baltimore Ravens.

Early Life and High School

Jarrod Pughsley was born in Oakland, California. He moved to Ohio when he was very young.

He played high school football at Lima Senior High School in Lima, Ohio. He was an offensive lineman. Jarrod was on the varsity team for his last two years. He was named second-team All-Northwest District in his junior year. In his senior year, he was first-team All-Northwest District.

Jarrod also played basketball at Lima High. He helped his team have a great 19–6 record in the 2008–09 season. He graduated in 2009. He chose to walk on at Akron, even though he had offers from other schools. In 2016, Lima Senior High School retired his jersey number. He was the youngest person to have this honor at the school.

College Football Journey

Jarrod Pughsley was a four-year letterman for the Akron Zips. He played from 2010 to 2013. He took a redshirt year in 2009. This meant he practiced but did not play in games.

He started at Akron as a walk-on player. This means he wasn't on scholarship at first. But in 2011, he earned a full football scholarship. This was a big achievement!

In 2010, he played in ten games as an offensive tackle. The next year, he played in the last two games. He started one game as a left guard. He had missed most of 2011 due to an injury. In 2012, Jarrod played in 11 games and started ten of them. He played both left tackle and left guard.

In 2013, he played in 12 games, starting all of them at left tackle. He earned third-team All-MAC honors. He also received the Harry "Doc" Smith Award. This award goes to an outstanding player. Jarrod was also a team captain on offense in his senior year. During his college career, he played in 35 games and started 23 of them.

Before the 2014 NFL draft, experts thought Jarrod Pughsley was a good offensive line prospect. He was seen as a player who could grow in the NFL.

Dallas Cowboys

Jarrod Pughsley signed with the Dallas Cowboys in May 2014. This was after the 2014 NFL Draft, where he was not picked. Soon after, he had a torn biceps injury. This injury needed surgery. He was later released by the team.

Kansas City Chiefs

Jarrod joined the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad in October 2014. He spent a lot of time on the practice squad. This is where players train with the team but are not on the main roster. He signed a future contract with the Chiefs in December 2014.

In 2015, Jarrod was moved to the Chiefs' active roster. He played in two regular season games that year. He also played in a playoff game against the New England Patriots in January 2016. He was released by the Chiefs in September 2016. He then rejoined their practice squad for a short time.

Baltimore Ravens

In November 2016, Jarrod Pughsley signed with the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad. He signed a contract to stay with the Ravens in January 2017. However, he was released by the team before the 2017 season began.

After his playing career, Jarrod Pughsley became a high school football coach. He enjoys teaching young players. He has also helped at youth football camps.
