Jason Thomas Butler Harner (born October 9, 1970) is an American actor. He is well-known for playing FBI Special Agent Roy Petty in the TV series Ozark.

Life and Career
Jason Butler Harner was born in Elmira, New York. He grew up in Northern Virginia, where he started to enjoy plays at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.. His middle name, Butler, comes from his mother's family.
He went to T. C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia, and finished in 1988. Even though he was the president of his high school drama club, he spent most of his time building sets for plays, not acting in them.
After high school, when he was 17, Jason worked as an usher at the Eisenhower Theater. This theater is part of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
Education and Early Acting Steps
Jason went to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and earned a degree in acting in 1992. He was the second person in his family to go to college.
After VCU, he trained at the Actors Theatre of Louisville. Then, he moved to New York City. He earned another degree in acting from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in 1997. Later, in 2007-2008, he returned to VCU to teach acting as a guest artist.

Jason Butler Harner has appeared in many popular TV shows and movies. One of his most famous roles is FBI Special Agent Roy Petty in the series Ozark.

In 2012, he played Associate Warden Elijah Bailey "E.B." Tiller in the Fox series Alcatraz. He also appeared in the movie Changeling in 2008.
