Jason Patric (born John Anthony Miller III on June 17, 1966) is an American actor. He has starred in many films, TV shows, and plays. Some of his well-known movies include The Lost Boys (1987), Rush (1991), Sleepers (1996), and The Alamo (2004).
Jason Patric comes from a family of talented performers. His father was the famous actor and writer Jason Miller. His grandfather on his mother's side was the legendary actor and comedian Jackie Gleason.

Jason Patric was born in Queens, a part of New York City. His father, Jason Miller, was an actor and a writer who won an Academy Award and a Pulitzer Prize. His mother, Linda Miller, is also an actress. His grandfather was the well-known actor and comedian Jackie Gleason.
Jason grew up in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. He has an older sister named Jennifer and a half-brother named Joshua John Miller, who is also an actor. His family background is mostly Irish, with some German heritage.
Acting Career Highlights
After finishing school, Jason Patric began his acting career. One of his first roles was in a TV drama called Toughlove. Soon after, he appeared in the movie Solarbabies.
Breakthrough Roles
In 1987, Jason Patric got a very important role in the movie The Lost Boys. He played Michael Emerson, a teenager who becomes involved with vampires. This movie was very popular and helped him become widely known. People even compared his look in the film to the singer Jim Morrison.
He also starred in The Beast, a film about war. In 1991, he played an undercover police officer in the movie Rush, which earned him good reviews.
Historical and Dramatic Films
Jason Patric continued to take on challenging roles. In 1993, he acted alongside famous actors Gene Hackman and Robert Duvall in Geronimo: An American Legend. He played a real-life soldier named Charles B. Gatewood.

Besides movies, Jason Patric has also performed on Broadway, which is the highest level of theater in the United States. In 2005, he played the character "Brick" in a new production of the famous play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Later, in 2011, he appeared in a revival of his own father's play, That Championship Season. This play, written by Jason Miller, won a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award when it first came out in 1972. It was special for Jason Patric to perform in his father's award-winning work.
Personal Life and Family
Jason Patric has a son. He worked through a legal process to make sure he was recognized as his son's father. In late 2014, the court officially recognized him as the father, and this decision was confirmed later on appeal. He is very involved in his son's life.
Jason Patric also has a long-standing friendship with actor Kiefer Sutherland. They even acted together on Broadway in his father's play, That Championship Season, in 2011.
