Early Life and Musical Training
Jean Casadesus was born in Paris, France. He started learning piano from his parents at a young age. Later, he studied music at the famous Conservatoire de Paris. After that, he traveled to the United States to continue his studies at Princeton University.
A Successful Piano Career
Jean Casadesus made his first big performance in 1947. He played with the Philadelphia Orchestra, led by Eugene Ormandy. After this, he became a successful concert pianist. He also enjoyed teaching others how to play the piano. He taught many students at the American Conservatory in Fontainebleau, France. One of his notable students was Robert D. Levin.
Playing Music with Family
Jean Casadesus often performed with his parents. They played concertos (special pieces for piano and orchestra) by Mozart. These concertos were written for two or three pianos. They even recorded these works with famous orchestras. They recorded with the Columbia Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra, conducted by George Szell. They also recorded with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy.
Personal Life
In 1953, Jean Casadesus married Evie Girard. Her father, André Girard, was a painter. Jean and Evie Casadesus had one child, a daughter named Agnès.
Later Years
Sadly, Jean Casadesus died in a car accident in Canada in early 1972. His father, Robert, passed away later that same year in Paris.
