The Cayuga people are part of the larger Haudenosaune (or Iroquois) group. Her family comes from Six Nations of the Grand River, which is a large Indigenous territory near Brantford, Ontario.
Early Life and Training
As a child, Jenna was interested in acting. She took acting classes at the School of Dramatic Arts and Imagination Drama School. Both schools are located in Niagara Falls. Besides acting, Jenna also enjoyed playing lacrosse. Lacrosse is a sport with deep roots in Indigenous cultures.
Her Acting Journey
Jenna Clause started her acting career in smaller movies. These included films like You're It and The Furies Inside Me. Her big break came when she was chosen to play Martha Blackburn in The Wilds. In the show, her character Martha is from the Ojibwe people.
Jenna has spoken about how important it was to play an Indigenous character. She wanted to make sure she represented the culture correctly. She said she worked hard to "get every little bit correct."
