A Look Back: History

People have known about Jenny Jump Mountain for a very long time. In 1834, someone wrote a description of the mountain. They said it was a "noted eminence," which means it was a well-known and important high place. The description also mentioned that the mountain stretched for about 10 miles (about 16 kilometers) from the northeast to the southwest. It was noted to extend into what was then called Oxford Township and Independence Township. This shows that the mountain has been a significant landmark in New Jersey for nearly 200 years!
