Admiral Sir John Jeremy Black (born November 17, 1932 – died November 25, 2015) was a very important officer in the Royal Navy. People often called him Jeremy Black or J. J. Black. He is famous for leading the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible during the Falklands War. Later, he became the Commander-in-Chief of Naval Home Command before he retired in 1991.

Jeremy Black's Naval Career

Jeremy Black was born in Tavistock, Devon on November 17, 1932. He studied at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, which was located at Eaton Hall, Cheshire at the time. He served in many places, including Korea and Borneo.

Leading the Invincible

Captain Black was a great leader for his crew. They even made T-shirts that said 'There and Back with JJ Black'. This fun slogan later became the title of his own book, called 'There and Back'.
