Admiral Sir John Jeremy Black (born November 17, 1932 – died November 25, 2015) was a very important officer in the Royal Navy. People often called him Jeremy Black or J. J. Black. He is famous for leading the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible during the Falklands War. Later, he became the Commander-in-Chief of Naval Home Command before he retired in 1991.

Jeremy Black was born in Tavistock, Devon on November 17, 1932. He studied at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, which was located at Eaton Hall, Cheshire at the time. He served in many places, including Korea and Borneo.
Leading the Invincible
In 1960, he received an award for his work in Borneo. But his most famous role was as the captain of the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible. This was during the Falklands War in 1982.
Captain Black was a great leader for his crew. They even made T-shirts that said 'There and Back with JJ Black'. This fun slogan later became the title of his own book, called 'There and Back'.
Rising Through the Ranks
After the Falklands War, in October 1982, Black was promoted to a high rank called rear admiral. He then held important jobs in the Ministry of Defence. In 1989, he became the Commander-in-Chief Naval Home Command. This was a very senior position in the Royal Navy. He retired from the Navy in 1991.
After retiring, Jeremy Black continued to serve the Royal Navy in special roles. He held the titles of Rear-Admiral of the United Kingdom and then Vice-Admiral of the United Kingdom. He was also the chairman of a special club for Royal Navy officers.
Jeremy Black passed away on November 25, 2015, at the age of 83, after a long illness.

- He was honored with this knighthood on December 31, 1986.
