Jeremy Hall's Soccer Journey
College Soccer Days
Before joining a special national soccer program for young players, Jeremy Hall played for a local club called Hillsborough County United. He then played college soccer at the University of Maryland. While there, his team won the NCAA Division I Championship in 2009.
Jeremy was a very talented college player. He was named an All-American twice by NSCAA/Adidas. He was also a USYSA All-American in 2005 and a Parade All-American twice. In his three years at Maryland, he played in 66 games. He scored 26 goals and helped set up 14 others.
Playing Professionally
Jeremy Hall was chosen 11th overall in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft by the New York Red Bulls. This was his big step into professional soccer. He played his first Major League Soccer (MLS) game on March 19, 2009, against Seattle Sounders FC. In his first season with New York, he played in 24 games, mostly as a right defender. After this season, he even trained with Red Bull Salzburg, a team in Austria.
On March 20, 2010, Jeremy played the whole game for the Red Bulls in a 3–1 win against Santos FC. This was a special game because it was the first one played at the new Red Bull Arena. Later, on May 23, 2010, he scored New York's first goal in a friendly match against the famous Italian team Juventus FC. On October 21, 2010, he helped New York win the Eastern Conference title by beating the New England Revolution 2–0.
In November 2010, Jeremy was traded to the Portland Timbers, a new team joining MLS in 2011. He was a regular starter for Portland. However, on August 19, 2011, he was traded again, this time to FC Dallas.
Jeremy then moved to Toronto FC on November 29, 2011. He made his debut for Toronto as a substitute. On June 20, 2012, he scored his first professional goal against Houston Dynamo. The game ended in a 3–3 tie.
In December 2014, Toronto traded Jeremy to the New England Revolution. He played 12 games for New England in 2015.
On February 8, 2016, Jeremy signed a one-year contract with his hometown team, the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Later that year, on July 21, 2016, he joined United Soccer League team Sacramento Republic on loan.
In 2021, Jeremy Hall was the first player to sign with 1812 FC Barrie, a new club in the League1 Ontario league.
Playing for His Country
Jeremy was part of the U.S. Soccer Residency program starting in 2003. He played 22 games for the U-17 team. This included playing in the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Peru, where he scored one goal against the Ivory Coast U-17 team. He also played for the United States U-20 team.
In May 2016, Jeremy was asked to play for the Puerto Rico national football team. He was able to play for Puerto Rico because his grandparents were from there. He helped Puerto Rico reach the third round of the 2017 Caribbean Cup. This meant they were only two games away from playing in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup for the first time ever!
He continued to play for Puerto Rico in matches against Orlando City SC in 2017 and in the CONCACAF Nations League until 2018.
Becoming a Coach
After his playing career, Jeremy Hall started coaching. In March 2022, he joined the first coaching staff for Minnesota United FC 2 in the MLS Next Pro league. In April 2024, he was promoted to head coach for the team.
