The 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup was a big soccer tournament. It was the 14th time this event was held. Teams from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean played in it. The games took place in the United States from July 7 to July 26, 2017.

Mexico had won the previous tournament. They were the champions trying to win again.

Teams in the Tournament

Twelve national teams joined the 2017 Gold Cup. These teams came from different parts of North and Central America, plus the Caribbean. The United States was the host country for the games.

How the Tournament Worked

The tournament had two main parts: the group stage and the knockout stage. Teams first played in groups to see who would move on. Then, the best teams played in single-elimination matches.

Group Stage Matches

In the group stage, teams were divided into three groups: Group A, Group B, and Group C. Each team played every other team in its group once. Teams earned points for wins and draws.

  • A win gave 3 points.
  • A draw (tie) gave 1 point.
  • A loss gave 0 points.

The top two teams from each group moved to the next round. Also, the two best third-place teams from all groups got to move on.
