The Martinique national football team (also known as Équipe de Martinique de football) represents the island of Martinique in international football games. Martinique is a French overseas department, which means it's part of France. The team is managed by the Ligue de Football de la Martinique (Martinique Football League).
Even though Martinique is part of France, its football team is not a member of FIFA, the world's main football organization. This means they cannot play in the FIFA World Cup. However, they are members of CONCACAF (the football association for North, Central America, and the Caribbean) and the CFU. This allows them to compete in tournaments organized by these groups. In 2010, the team got a new nickname: Les Matinino, which honors the island's history.

About the Martinique Football Team
Since Martinique is an overseas department of France, its players are French citizens. This means they can also play for the France national football team. However, the local football league can still create its own team to play in regional competitions.
Martinique's biggest win so far was when they won the Caribbean Cup in 1993. They also won the CFU Championship twice, which was a competition before the Caribbean Cup. More recently, they won the 2010 Coupe de l'Outre-Mer by beating Réunion in a penalty shootout. The team has played in the CONCACAF Gold Cup three times. Their best result was reaching the quarter-finals in 2002, where they lost to Canada after a penalty shootout.
