The Martinique national football team (called Équipe de Martinique de football in French) plays for the French island of Martinique in international football games. The team is managed by the Ligue de Football de la Martinique, which is part of the FFF. Martinique is not a member of FIFA, the world's main football organization. This means they cannot play in the FIFA World Cup. However, they are part of CONCACAF and the CFU. This allows them to compete in many regional tournaments. On August 7, 2010, the team got its nickname, Les Matinino. This name honors the island's long history.

About the Martinique Football Team
Martinique is an overseas department of France. Because of this, it is not a member of FIFA. Players from Martinique are French citizens. They can even play for the France national football team.
However, Martinique is a member of CONCACAF and the CFU. This means they can play in all competitions organized by these groups. The French Football Federation allows its regional leagues to organize international events. They can also create teams to join these events.
Martinique's biggest win was the Caribbean Cup in 1993. They also won the CFU Championship twice. This was an older tournament before the Caribbean Cup. More recently, they won the 2010 Coupe de l'Outre-Mer. They beat Réunion in a penalty shootout to win that title. The team has played in eight CONCACAF Gold Cups. Their best result was reaching the quarter-finals in 2002. They lost to Canada in a penalty shootout.

CFU Caribbean Cup Games
From 1978 to 1985, Martinique played in the CFU Championship. This was a tournament that came before the Caribbean Cup. Out of six championships, Martinique reached the final rounds three times. Les Matinino won this competition twice, in 1983 and 1985. Martinique also played in fourteen Caribbean Cup tournaments. Martinique was the team from the smallest population to win this competition. They won their first and only Caribbean Cup title in 1993. This tournament was held in Jamaica. Martinique beat the hosts 6–5 in a penalty shootout in the final. The next year, Martinique finished second to Trinidad and Tobago. The team also finished in third place three times: in 1992, 1996, and 2001.
