The Guadeloupe national football team is a soccer team that represents Guadeloupe. Guadeloupe is a French island in the Caribbean. The team is controlled by the Ligue guadeloupéenne de football, which is the local soccer league.
Even though Guadeloupe is part of France, it is not a member of FIFA. This means they cannot play in the FIFA World Cup. However, they are part of CONCACAF and the CFU. This allows them to play in other important tournaments in North America and the Caribbean.
Guadeloupe's best achievement so far was reaching the final of the 2010 Caribbean Championship. They played against Jamaica and lost in a penalty shootout. They also did very well in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2007, making it to the semi-finals.

Team History and Success
Early Days and Gold Cup Debut
Guadeloupe surprised many by qualifying for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2007. They earned their spot by finishing fourth in the 2006–07 Caribbean Nations Cup. This was their first time playing in the Gold Cup.
Their first game in the tournament was a 1-1 draw against Haiti. Then, they won 2-1 against Canada in Miami. They lost their last group game 1-0 to Costa Rica.
Reaching the Semi-Finals
Guadeloupe moved on to the knockout stage as one of the best third-place teams. In the quarter-finals, they beat Honduras 2-1. This was a big upset because Honduras had been playing very well.
In the semi-finals, Guadeloupe lost 1-0 to Mexico. Even though they lost, people praised their strong defense. Their performance was the best by a Caribbean island team since Trinidad and Tobago in 2000.
More Gold Cup Appearances
Guadeloupe's good performance in the 2008 Caribbean Championship helped them play in the Gold Cup again in 2009. The coach, Roger Salnot, tried to get more talented players from France to join the team. However, most of these players were not allowed to play by their clubs.
In the 2009 tournament, Guadeloupe won their first two group games. They beat Panama 2-1 and Nicaragua 2-0. They then lost 2-0 to Mexico. They reached the quarter-finals again but lost to Costa Rica.
Guadeloupe also qualified for the Gold Cup in 2021 and 2023. In 2023, they had an exciting 2-2 draw with Canada.
