La Berrichonne de Châteauroux, often called La Berri or just Châteauroux, is a French football club. It is based in the city of Châteauroux. The club was started in 1916 and is part of a bigger sports club.
Currently, the team plays in the Championnat National. This is the third main football division in France. Châteauroux has played only one season in the top league, Division 1. This was during the 1997–98 season.
In 2004, Châteauroux made it to the final of the 2003–04 Coupe de France. They lost 1–0 to Paris Saint-Germain. However, because Paris Saint-Germain finished high in their league, Châteauroux still got to play in the UEFA Cup. This was a big achievement for the club! In the UEFA Cup, they lost in the first round to a Belgian team called Club Brugge.
The team plays its home games at the Stade Gaston Petit. This stadium can hold 17,173 fans. Usually, about 6,000 to 7,000 people come to watch the games. The team's uniform is deep red and blue. They wear a vertically striped shirt and blue shorts. Their kit (uniform) is made by Nike.
