The French Guiana national football team is the official football team for French Guiana. It is controlled by the Ligue de football de la Guyane, which is the local football group. This group is part of the FFF.

About the Team

French Guiana is a part of France, so it is not a member of FIFA. This means the team cannot play in the World Cup on its own. Players from French Guiana can play for the France national football team.

Some famous players from French Guiana have played for France. These include Bernard Lama, Mike Maignan, and Florent Malouda. Mike Maignan is currently the main goalkeeper for France. Bernard Lama helped France win the World Cup in 1998. Florent Malouda was part of the French team that finished second in the 2006 World Cup.

Playing in CONCACAF

Even though French Guiana is not in FIFA, it is a member of CONCACAF and the CFU. This means they can play in all the football tournaments organized by these groups. CONCACAF is the football association for North, Central America, and the Caribbean.

Football rules allow teams from territories that are part of a country to play in regional events. This is true even if the main country is in a different football region.
