Gabriel Torres's Football Journey

Playing for Clubs

Gabriel Torres was seen as a very promising young player in Panama. Early in his career, he even got to train with famous European clubs like Manchester United in England and Valencia in Spain. However, an injury during his second training trip to Manchester meant he had to return home.

He started his professional career playing for Chepo in Panama. In 2008, he was loaned to La Equidad in Colombia, where he scored a goal in his very first game. He later joined América Cali on loan in 2009.

In 2010, Gabriel moved to another Colombian team, Atlético Huila. Then, in July 2011, he joined Zamora in Venezuela. He became a very important player for Zamora, even becoming the club's all-time top goalscorer in February 2013.

On August 8, 2013, Gabriel Torres signed with the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. He was the first "Designated Player" for the Rapids, which means he was a high-profile player signed to boost the team. After his time in the MLS, he continued to play for various clubs, including another spell with Zamora, Lausanne-Sport in Switzerland, and Huachipato in Chile. He also played for Independiente del Valle in Ecuador, where he helped them win an important international trophy. More recently, he has played for Antofagasta and Sporting San Miguelito, before joining Tauro in 2025.

Playing for Panama

Gabriel Torres has also had a long and successful career playing for his country, Panama. He first played for the Panama national team in October 2005 in a FIFA World Cup qualification match.

He was also the captain of Panama's Under-20 team that played in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada. This is a big tournament for young players from around the world.

In May 2018, Gabriel was chosen to be part of Panama's 23-player team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. This was a huge moment for him and for Panamanian football, as it was the first time Panama had ever qualified for the FIFA World Cup.
