Jeremy Ross Jeffress (born September 21, 1987) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for several teams. These teams included the Kansas City Royals, Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Chicago Cubs. Jeremy was chosen as an All-Star player in 2018.

Playing Career
Starting with the Milwaukee Brewers
Jeremy Jeffress finished high school in South Boston, Virginia. After that, the Milwaukee Brewers picked him in the 2006 MLB draft. He was the 16th player chosen overall. Jeremy signed a contract that included a $1.55 million bonus.
In 2008, Jeremy played for the Brevard County Manatees. Later that year, he moved up to the Double-A team, the Huntsville Stars. He started 2009 with Huntsville but was sent back to Brevard County. In 2010, he played for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, a Class A team.
On July 1, 2010, Jeremy was called up to the Class A-Advanced Brevard County team. He continued to pitch from the bullpen. Soon after, he moved up to Huntsville again. On September 1, 2010, Jeremy was called up to the major leagues for the first time. He played his first MLB game that night, pitching one inning without giving up any runs. That year, he played in 10 games. He had a 1–0 record with a 2.70 ERA. He also had 10 strikeouts.
Time with the Kansas City Royals
On December 18, 2010, Jeremy Jeffress was traded to the Kansas City Royals. He was part of a trade that sent four players to the Royals. In return, the Brewers received Zack Greinke and Yuniesky Betancourt.
Jeremy started the 2011 season with the Royals. He earned his first win with the team on April 5 against the Chicago White Sox. He played in 14 games. He had a 4.70 ERA in just over 15 innings. On May 21, Jeremy was sent to the Omaha Storm Chasers, the Royals' Triple-A team. He struggled there and was later moved to the Double-A team, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
In 2012, Jeremy played for both the Storm Chasers and the Royals. He had a tough time in the major leagues. He played in 13 games with a 6.75 ERA. However, his play in the minor leagues improved. He appeared in 37 games, with a 5–4 record and a 4.97 ERA. On November 2, 2012, the Royals decided to let Jeremy go.
Playing for the Toronto Blue Jays
On November 8, 2012, the Toronto Blue Jays got Jeremy Jeffress from the Royals. They traded cash for him. Jeremy played in one game for the Blue Jays. On April 6, 2013, the Blue Jays decided to let him go.
He then went to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons team. Later, he was sent to the Class A Dunedin Blue Jays. He returned to the Bisons on May 3. On September 3, he was called back up to the Blue Jays. He played well in 10 games for them, with a 0.87 ERA. With the Bisons, he had a 1–0 record and a 1.65 ERA in 25 games.
Jeremy started the 2014 season with the Blue Jays. However, he did not play well. In 3 games, he had a 10.80 ERA. On April 4, 2014, the Blue Jays decided to let him go again. He was assigned to Buffalo, but he chose to become a free agent instead.
Returning to the Milwaukee Brewers
Jeremy Jeffress signed a new contract with the Milwaukee Brewers on April 18, 2014. He was sent to the Triple-A Nashville Sounds. The Brewers called him up to the major league team on July 21, 2014. Jeremy played very well in his return to Milwaukee. He became a great setup pitcher for the closer, Francisco Rodriguez. He had a 1–1 record with a 1.88 ERA in 29 games.
In 2015, Jeremy took over as the main pitcher for the eighth inning. He continued to play well in this new role. He had a 2.65 ERA in 68 innings. He also struck out 67 batters. In 2016, Jeremy was expected to be the setup pitcher. But when Will Smith got hurt, Jeremy became the team's closer.
As the closer, Jeremy played in 47 games. He had a 2.22 ERA and 27 saves. He struck out 35 batters.
Time with the Texas Rangers

On August 1, 2016, the Brewers traded Jeremy Jeffress and Jonathan Lucroy to the Texas Rangers. In return, the Brewers received Lewis Brinson, Luis Ortiz, and another player.
He played in 9 games after the trade, with a 4.00 ERA. He finished the 2016 season with a 3–2 record and a 2.33 ERA in 58 innings. He also had 27 saves.
In 2017, Jeremy had a tougher time with the Rangers. He had a 5.31 ERA and a 1–2 record in over 40 innings.
Third Time with Milwaukee
On July 31, 2017, the Rangers traded Jeremy Jeffress back to the Milwaukee Brewers. They received Tayler Scott in return. He played in 22 games after the trade. He had a 4–0 record with a 3.65 ERA.
In 2018, Jeremy returned to his role as a setup man. He played very well in the first half of the season. He had a 0.99 ERA in over 45 innings. On July 12, 2018, Jeremy was chosen for his first All-Star team. For the whole season, Jeremy played in 73 games. He had an 8–1 record with a 1.29 ERA in over 76 innings. He also had 15 saves.
Jeremy started the 2019 season with the Brewers' Triple-A team, the San Antonio Missions. This was because he had a shoulder injury. He played his first game of the season on April 17. On August 25, Jeremy had a hip injury. He was later released by the Brewers on September 1.
Playing for the Chicago Cubs
On January 28, 2020, Jeremy Jeffress signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Cubs. During the shorter 2020 season, Jeremy earned eight saves. He had a 1.54 ERA. He also made it difficult for opposing batters to get hits. He was nominated for the 2020 All-MLB Team. He was also a finalist for the NL Reliever of the Year award.
