Jeremy Ross Jeffress (born September 21, 1987) is an American professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for several teams. These include the Milwaukee Brewers, Kansas City Royals, Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers, and Chicago Cubs. Jeremy Jeffress was chosen as an All-Star player in 2018.
Jeremy Jeffress' Baseball Journey
Starting with the Milwaukee Brewers
Jeremy Jeffress finished high school in South Boston, Virginia. The Milwaukee Brewers picked him as the 16th overall player in the 2006 Major League Baseball draft. He signed a contract in 2006.
He started playing in the minor leagues. In 2008, he moved up to the Double-A team, the Huntsville Stars. He later played for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2010.
On September 1, 2010, Jeffress was called up to play in the major leagues for the first time. He pitched one inning without allowing any runs. That year, he played in 10 games. He had a 1–0 record and a 2.70 ERA.
Playing for the Kansas City Royals
On December 18, 2010, Jeffress was traded to the Kansas City Royals. He joined the team with Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain, and Jake Odorizzi.
He started the 2011 season with the Royals. He earned his first win with the team on April 5. He played in 14 games for the Royals. Later, he was sent to the Triple-A team, the Omaha Storm Chasers. He also played for the Double-A team, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
In 2012, Jeffress played for both the Storm Chasers and the Royals. He made 13 appearances for the Royals. He also played in 37 games for the Storm Chasers.
Time with the Toronto Blue Jays
On November 8, 2012, the Toronto Blue Jays got Jeffress from the Royals. He played in one game for the Blue Jays in 2013.
He then played for the Triple-A team, the Buffalo Bisons. He also played for the Class A team, the Dunedin Blue Jays. In September 2013, he returned to the Blue Jays. He played in 10 games and had a 0.87 ERA.
Jeffress started the 2014 season with the Blue Jays. He played in 3 games before leaving the team.
Second Time with the Milwaukee Brewers
Jeffress signed a new contract with the Milwaukee Brewers on April 18, 2014. He played for their Triple-A team, the Nashville Sounds. The Brewers called him up to the major leagues on July 21, 2014. He did very well in his return. He had a 1–1 record and a 1.88 ERA in 29 games.
In 2015, Jeffress became a key pitcher for Milwaukee. He pitched in 72 games and had a 2.65 ERA. He struck out 67 batters.
In 2016, Jeffress became the team's closer. He made 47 appearances. He had a 2.22 ERA and recorded 27 saves.
Playing for the Texas Rangers

On August 1, 2016, the Brewers traded Jeffress to the Texas Rangers. He played in 9 games after the trade. He finished the 2016 season with a 3–2 record and a 2.33 ERA. He had 27 saves.
In 2017, Jeffress played 40.2 innings with the Rangers. He had a 5.31 ERA and a 1–2 record.
Third Time with the Milwaukee Brewers
On July 31, 2017, the Rangers traded Jeffress back to the Milwaukee Brewers. He played in 22 games after the trade. He had a 4–0 record and a 3.65 ERA.
In 2018, Jeffress returned to his role as a setup pitcher. He had a great first half of the season with a 0.99 ERA. On July 12, 2018, Jeffress was chosen for his first All-Star team. For the whole season, he played in 73 games. He had an 8–1 record with a 1.29 ERA and 15 saves.
Jeffress started the 2019 season with the Brewers' Triple-A team due to a shoulder injury. He returned to the Brewers on April 17. He was later released by the Brewers on September 1.
Time with the Chicago Cubs
On January 28, 2020, Jeffress signed a contract with the Chicago Cubs. In the shortened 2020 season, he earned eight saves. He had a 1.54 ERA. He was a finalist for the NL Reliever of the Year award.
Recent Baseball Teams
After his time in MLB, Jeffress continued to play baseball. On July 7, 2021, Jeffress signed with the Lexington Legends. This team is part of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He played in 23 games for them.
On March 18, 2022, Jeffress signed with the Diablos Rojos del México in the Mexican League. He played in 17 games for this team.
On July 1, 2025, Jeffress signed with the Tigres de Quintana Roo, also in the Mexican League. He played in two games for them before being released on July 5, 2025.
Jeremy Jeffress' Health Journey
In June 2013, Jeremy Jeffress was diagnosed with juvenile epilepsy. This condition helped explain the high anxiety and seizures he had experienced. Getting this diagnosis helped him understand his health better.
