History of Jerico Springs
Jerico Springs was officially started in 1882. When a town is "platted," it means its streets and lots are mapped out. The village's name comes from two places: the ancient city of Jericho and Joseph B. Carrico, who owned the land where the town was built.
Geography and Location
Jerico Springs is found in the southwest part of Cedar County, right along Missouri Route 97. A large body of water called Stockton Lake is about ten miles east of the village. This area is part of the Ozark Mountains, specifically a flat, high area known as the Springfield Plateau. The village covers about 0.68 square miles (1.77 square kilometers) of land, and it's all dry land, with no large bodies of water inside its borders.
