Jessica Chobot (born Jessica Lynn Horn on July 7, 1977) is an American host, writer, and podcaster. She is famous for hosting shows about video games and pop culture. You might know her from programs like IGN's Daily Fix! and G4's Attack of the Show!.
From 2013 to 2019, she was the main host of Nerdist News for Nerdist Industries. In 2014, she started a popular podcast about paranormal topics called Bizarre States. More recently, she was a co-host on the Discovery Channel show Expedition X, where she investigated mysteries and strange events.

Early Life
Jessica Lynn Horn was born in Buffalo, New York, and grew up in Novi, Michigan. Her family moved around a lot when she was young. Before high school, she lived in many different places across the East Coast and the Midwest of the United States.
Career
Getting Started in Media
Chobot first became well-known in 2005. A funny photo of her with a Sony PSP game console went viral online. This led to many opportunities for her in the gaming world.
In 2006, she started working full-time for the popular gaming website IGN. She hosted shows like IGN Strategize and wrote reviews and articles. During this time, she also appeared on other TV shows, including G4's Attack of the Show! and hosted a gaming segment on Fuel TV.
Hosting at IGN and G4
From 2009 to 2011, Chobot hosted IGN's Daily Fix, a popular show that gave daily news about video games and technology. In 2011, she also co-hosted a show on the G4 channel called Proving Ground with Ryan Dunn.
She also worked on other fun projects. She helped create an idea for a science-fiction movie script written by Steven Lisberger, the director of the classic movie Tron.
The Nerdist Years
In 2013, Chobot became the host of Nerdist News, a daily show about pop culture news like movies, comics, and video games. She also hosted a weekly discussion show called Nerdist News Talks Back.
In 2014, she started a podcast called Bizarre States with her co-host Andrew Bowser. The show explored paranormal topics, strange mysteries, and spooky stories. It became very popular and even had a special TV mini-series where they investigated haunted places in California. Chobot left Nerdist in 2019 after six years.

Mass Effect 3
In 2012, she appeared as a character named Diana Allers in the hit video game Mass Effect 3. The character was modeled to look and sound like her. This caused some discussion, as people wondered if a media host should be a character in a game. Chobot explained that she was an on-screen personality, not a game reviewer, and that she was hired for her entertainment skills.
Daylight
Chobot was the writer for the video game Daylight, a survival horror game released in 2014. In the game, players have to explore a spooky, dark place with only a phone for light.
She has also co-hosted the annual D.I.C.E. Awards, which are like the Oscars for video games, several times with Greg Miller.
Film and Television Work
In 2015, Chobot was the sideline reporter for the robot-fighting show Battlebots. That same year, she played the famous video game character Samus Aran in a short fan film called Metroid: The Sky Calls.
From 2020 to 2023, Chobot was a co-host of the Discovery Channel series Expedition X. On the show, she traveled with paranormal researcher Phil Torres and adventurer Josh Gates to investigate supernatural claims, mysterious creatures, and strange places around the world.
Podcasting Career
After leaving Nerdist, Chobot continued to create podcasts about the paranormal. In 2020, she and Andrew Bowser started a new show called The Untold Hour.
In 2022, she brought back her popular podcast brand with Bizarre States Resurrected. As of July 2025, she hosts a new podcast called Occulture Shock, where she continues to explore the occult, paranormal events, and strange history.
Personal Life
Jessica was once married and kept the last name Chobot after the marriage ended.
In 2012, she married Blair Herter, who also works in the media industry. They have one child, who was born in 2013. In 2022, her family moved to the Netherlands after Herter began working for the esports organization Team Liquid.
