Jessica Chobot (born Jessica Lynn Horn; July 7, 1977) is an American host and writer. She is well-known for hosting shows about video games and pop culture. She worked for IGN, hosting shows like IGN Strategize and Weekly Wood. Later, she became the main host for Nerdist News. In 2014, she started her own podcast called Bizarre States. Jessica also appeared in the reality TV series Expedition X.

Early Life and Moving Around

Jessica Lynn Horn was born in Buffalo, New York. She grew up in Novi, Michigan. Her family moved quite often when she was young. Before high school, she lived in many different places across the East Coast and Midwest regions of the United States.

Her Career Journey

Jessica Chobot became known in 2005. A website called Kotaku shared a photo of her licking a Sony PSP game console. This picture became very popular and was even copied in some of Sony's own advertisements.

Working at IGN

In 2006, IGN.com hired Chobot full-time. She became a host for their show IGN Weekly. She would introduce segments and interview people on the street. From 2009 to 2011, she hosted a daily show called IGN Daily Fix. She also wrote articles, reviews, and blog posts for IGN.

Jessica also appeared on other TV channels like G4's Filter and Attack of the Show!. She hosted a video game preview segment for The Daily Habit on Fuel TV. She also co-hosted Gamer's Dojo on Lifeskool TV.

Other Projects and Voice Acting

Chobot appeared in commercials for ADV's Anime Network. She also lent her image to a toy company for special anime-style figures. She modeled for J!NX, a clothing line for female gamers. In 2006-2007, she helped write a science fiction story called Soul Code with Steven Lisberger, who created the movie Tron.

She also hosted IGN Strategize, a weekly show on Inside Xbox. In 2011, she was ranked #57 in Askmen's Top 99 Women poll.

In 2012, Jessica Chobot voiced a character named Diana Allers in the video game Mass Effect 3. Diana Allers was a news reporter in the game. Even though Jessica hosted a preview of the game, she and her employers made it clear she would not officially review the game. There was some discussion about her being in the game while also working in video game media. Jessica explained that she saw herself as an on-screen personality, not a journalist. She said the game creators never asked her for special favors.

Hosting Nerdist News and Writing Games

On November 4, 2013, Chobot started working as the main host of Nerdist News. This show focused on updates about "nerdy" pop culture. It aired five days a week on Nerdist.com.

Chobot also worked as a writer for Daylight, a scary video game by Zombie Studios. The game was released on April 29, 2014. On June 26, 2014, Jessica started her own podcast called Bizarre States. This show is about strange and supernatural topics. She hosts it with Andrew Bowser.

In 2015, Chobot interviewed contestants on the TV show Battlebots, which is about robotic combat. She also played the character Samus Aran in a short fan film called Metroid: The Sky Calls.

On August 5, 2019, Jessica Chobot announced that she was leaving Nerdist after six years. She then starred in Expedition X, a show that premiered on February 12, 2020, on the Discovery Channel. She was on the show for seven seasons.

Personal Life

Jessica Chobot was married before and got divorced in 2006. She kept her ex-husband's last name, Chobot.

On August 21, 2011, she got engaged to Blair Herter. They got married on February 18, 2012. Their first child was born on March 6, 2013. The family moved to the Netherlands in 2022.
