Joshua Gates is an American television host and producer. He is best known for exploring mysteries and ancient places around the world. He hosts and helps produce the TV show Expedition: Unknown on Discovery Channel. He also hosts Legendary Locations.
Josh Gates has also been a guest investigator on the TV series Ghost Hunters and its spin-off Ghost Hunters International. He produces other shows about strange events through his company, Ping Pong Productions. Before joining Discovery, he hosted Destination Truth and Stranded on Syfy.

About Josh Gates
Josh Gates was born in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, in 1977. His parents are Lee and Sonia Gates. Today, he lives in Los Angeles, California.
He went to Tufts University in Massachusetts. There, he studied two main subjects: archeology (the study of old human history) and drama (acting).
Gates married Hallie Gnatovich in 2014. She was also on the show Destination Truth. They have two children together. They are no longer married.

Destination Truth
From 2007 to 2012, Josh Gates hosted Destination Truth on Syfy. In this show, he traveled to different places to investigate legends and strange creatures. The show became very popular. Its second season had 1.7 million viewers, which was a big success for a reality show on Syfy. The series ran for five seasons.
In 2008, Gates visited Walt Disney World in Florida. He met with Joe Rohde, a designer for Disney. Gates gave him a cast of a "Yeti" footprint. This footprint was found during an episode of Destination Truth. The cast is now shown at Expedition Everest, a ride at Disney World. This ride is about a Yeti in the Himalayas.
Ghost Hunters and Paranormal Shows
Josh Gates has hosted many live TV specials for Ghost Hunters. He also appeared as a guest investigator on some episodes. He produces Ghost Nation, which features former Ghost Hunters members.
In 2007 and 2008, Gates hosted the Ghost Hunters Live Halloween specials. These were long, live broadcasts from spooky places like Fort Delaware. These shows were very popular on Halloween night. He continued to host these specials until 2011.
Gates also hosted the 100th episode special of Ghost Hunters Live. For this show, the team investigated Alcatraz Prison.
Expedition Unknown
Since 2015, Josh Gates has hosted and produced Expedition Unknown on Discovery Channel. In this show, he travels the world to explore famous legends, ancient ruins, and historical puzzles. The show has been very successful and is still running.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, a special version of the show was made. It was called Josh Gates Tonight. In this show, Gates talked to guests through video calls from his home. They discussed travel and other interesting topics.
Expedition: Back to the Future
In 2021, a special four-part series was made called Expedition: Back to the Future. In this series, Josh Gates teamed up with actor Christopher Lloyd. They searched for the special DeLorean Time Machines used in the Back to the Future movies. Their goal was to find one car to donate to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. This foundation raises money for research into Parkinson's disease. The car would be sold at an auction to help this important cause.
