Jessica Charlotte Poland (born January 15, 1988) is an American singer and songwriter. She is known by her stage names JPOLND, Charlotte Sometimes, and Laces. Her first album, Waves and the Both of Us, came out on May 6, 2008. She has released one full album and five shorter music collections called EPs. In 2014, Poland stopped using the name Charlotte Sometimes and started a new music project called LACES.

Early Life and Music Start

Jessica Poland was adopted by her parents, Hartson and Tracy Poland, when she was a baby. She met her birth mother when she was 13 years old.

When Jessica was 14, she started playing the guitar and writing her own songs. Around this time, she found out she had a rare jaw condition. This condition made it hard for her to sing. By age 16, she had surgery to help fix her jaw. She still gets special treatments for it today.

Jessica grew up in Wall Township, New Jersey. She went to Wall High School.

She got her first stage name, Charlotte Sometimes, from a children's book. The book, written in 1969 by Penelope Farmer, is about a student who travels back in time.

Music Career Journey

Starting Out (2006–2008)

Jessica Poland began her music career in early 2006. She was part of a five-person band called J. Poland and The Pilots. They played shows around New Brunswick, New Jersey. Soon, they started performing in New York at bigger places. They even opened for other artists.

In 2008, Jessica signed with Geffen Records. She released her album Waves and the Both of Us under the name Charlotte Sometimes. This album reached No. 145 on the Billboard 200 music chart. It also hit No. 3 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, which is for new artists. Jessica performed at all the shows on the 2008 Warped Tour. Her song "How I Could Just Kill A Man" was featured on the Warped Tour 2008 Tour Compilation album.

EPs and The Voice (2010–2014)

On May 14, 2010, Jessica released a free music collection called "Sideways." Her second EP, The Wait, came out on August 18, 2011.

In 2012, Jessica was a contestant on Season 2 of NBC's The Voice. All four judges wanted her on their team after her first audition. She chose Blake Shelton as her coach. She was eliminated after the first live show. Later that year, Jessica finished her third EP, Circus Head. The main song from this EP, "Brilliant, Broke and Beautiful," was released on October 3, 2012. The full EP came out on October 30, 2012.

In 2013, Jessica recorded her fourth Charlotte Sometimes EP, called "By Request." This was her first acoustic EP, meaning it mostly featured her voice and guitar. The song "Magic" was released on November 18, 2013. The full album came out on March 4, 2014.

New Projects: LACES and BRZY (2014–2016)

In early 2014, Jessica announced she would no longer use the name Charlotte Sometimes. She started a new music project called LACES. She began writing and recording music under her real name for this project.

The first song under her new name, "Love Me Sober," was first heard on Billboard on March 5, 2015. It was released to music stores on March 16, 2015. Dante Jones produced this song.

In 2016, Jessica announced another project called BRZY. This group included members from District 76 and LACES. Their song "Cause a Little Fire" was released online on October 21, 2016.

Jessica Vaughn (2016–Present)
