Jesús María Zamora Ansorena (born on January 1, 1955) is a famous Spanish former football player. He played as a midfielder, which means he helped both defense and attack on the field. Zamora spent his entire professional career playing for his hometown club, Real Sociedad. He is remembered as a key player who helped Real Sociedad win important titles.

Playing for Real Sociedad

Jesús María Zamora was born in Errenteria, a town in Gipuzkoa, Spain. He played his whole professional football career with Real Sociedad, a local team. After his first year (1974–75), where he played nine games, he became a very important player. Over the next 14 years, he played in 446 La Liga matches. He was a crucial part of the team, playing alongside other great players like Jesús María Satrústegui.

Winning the League Title

Zamora's most famous moment came at the very end of the 1980–81 season. In the last game, he scored a goal in the final seconds against Sporting de Gijón. This goal earned Real Sociedad the point they needed to win the league title. They won it ahead of Real Madrid. Real Madrid players were already celebrating their own win, but then they heard about Zamora's goal on the radio.

The next year, in the 1981–82 season, Zamora scored three goals in 31 matches. Real Sociedad won the league title again, showing they were the best team in Spain.

After Retirement

After he stopped playing football in 1989, Zamora continued to work with Real Sociedad. He took on different roles at the club. From 2002 to 2004, he worked as an assistant coach. He helped the team finish second in the league in his second year (2002–03). Later, in 2006, he resigned from his role after the club was relegated from La Liga. This was the first time the team had been relegated in 40 years.

Playing for Spain

Zamora also played for the Spanish national team. He played 30 games for his country and scored three goals. His first game for Spain was a friendly match against Italy on December 21, 1978.

He represented Spain in two major tournaments. He played in the UEFA Euro 1980 championship. He also played in the 1982 FIFA World Cup, which was held in Spain. His last game for Spain was a 0–0 draw against England on July 5, 1982, during the World Cup. This was also the last international match for his longtime club teammate, Satrústegui.
