Jet Geyser location

Jet Geyser is a cool geyser found in the Lower Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park in the United States. It's part of a group called the Fountain Group. This group also includes other geysers like Fountain Geyser, Morning Geyser, Red Spouter, and Silex Spring.

What is Jet Geyser?

A geyser is a special kind of hot spring that shoots out water and steam. Jet Geyser is known as a cone geyser. This means it has a cone-shaped mound built up around its opening from minerals in the water.

How Jet Geyser Erupts

Jet Geyser usually erupts in a series of blasts. Each blast lasts less than one minute. The water and steam can shoot up to about 20 feet (6.1 m) (about 6 meters) high!

Jet Geyser has at least five different openings, called vents. These vents can shoot water in different directions. Some go straight up, others at an angle, and some even almost sideways. Each vent sends out different amounts of water and steam.

Jet Geyser's Schedule

Jet Geyser's eruptions happen every 7 to 30 minutes. But here's a cool fact: its behavior is often affected by a much bigger geyser nearby, called Fountain Geyser.

When Fountain Geyser is about to erupt, Jet Geyser starts erupting more often. During most of Fountain Geyser's eruptions, Jet Geyser will erupt every 1 to 4 minutes! Once Fountain Geyser stops, Jet Geyser usually stops too. Then, about halfway through the time before Fountain Geyser erupts again, Jet Geyser often starts a new series of its own eruptions.

Where to See Jet Geyser

Jet Geyser is very easy to visit. It's located close to a park road. There's also a boardwalk right next to it. This makes it simple for visitors to get a close-up view of its amazing eruptions.
