About Jim O'Heir
Early Life and School
Jim O'Heir was born in Chicago, Illinois. He went to Thornton Fractional South High School in Lansing. After high school, he studied at Loyola University Chicago.
Starting His Acting Career
Jim began his acting career in Chicago in the late 1980s. He trained in improvisational comedy at a famous place called The Second City. He was also part of a comedy group named "White Noise." This group created funny plays with unique humor.
In 1988, Jim acted in "The Book of Blanche." This play was about a woman who fell into a fantasy world through a TV screen. In 1989, he played Norman Bulansky in "The Boys Next Door." Norman was a kind, childlike man who worked at a doughnut shop.
Jim also starred in "Stumpy's Gang" starting in 1990. He played Frank Bubman, a janitor who secretly put on shows with puppet experiments. Critics praised Jim's performance, calling it "unforgettable." He also appeared in another White Noise play called "Ad-Nauseam."
In 2005, Jim acted in the play One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in Hollywood. He played the character Dale Harding.

His TV Show Roles
Jim has been in many TV shows since the 1990s. He appeared in shows like 3rd Rock from the Sun, Malcolm in the Middle, and Star Trek: Voyager.
From 2000 to 2001, Jim had a regular role in the Comedy Central series Strip Mall. He played Harvey Krudup, the husband of the main character, Tammi Tyler. Tammi thought Harvey was rich, but he wasn't, which led to many funny situations.
In 2003, he made a guest appearance on Friends in the episode "The One With the Birth Mother." He played a worker at an adoption agency. In 2004, he was on Boston Legal as a man fired from being a department store Santa.
Playing Jerry Gergich
In 2009, Jim O'Heir joined the cast of the NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation. He first tried out for the role of Ron Swanson. Instead, he was cast as Jerry Gergich. Jerry was a kind but clumsy employee in the parks department. His co-workers often made fun of him and called him by different names like Larry, Terry, or Garry.
Even though Jerry was in the show from the first episode, his character became more important in the second season. An episode called "Park Safety" focused almost entirely on Jerry. Jim's funny performance in this episode received great reviews.
Other TV Appearances
In 2011, Jim was a guest on Parenthood. In 2013, he appeared on Good Luck Charlie and played Jack in the movie My Santa. That same year, he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live as Toronto mayor Rob Ford.
From 2016 to 2019, Jim played Matt Cannistra on The Bold and the Beautiful. In 2017, he won a Daytime Emmy award for this role. He also voiced a character named Aiden on the cartoon Harvey Beaks in 2016. In 2016, he appeared as Sheriff Reynolds in two episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
