James E. Price (born November 27, 1949) is a former American professional basketball player and coach. He played as a Point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for seven seasons.

Playing Career
Jim Price started his basketball journey in high school. He played for Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1966, he helped his team, the Titans, reach the State Finals. His older brother, Mike Price, also played on that team. The Titans finished that season with an impressive 25 wins and only 4 losses.
College Basketball
After high school, Jim Price went on to play college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals. He played there from 1969 to 1972. His skills on the court caught the attention of professional teams.
Joining the NBA
In 1972, Jim Price was chosen by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 1972 NBA draft. This meant he was selected to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA), which is the top professional basketball league in North America.

NBA Highlights
One of the biggest moments in his career was being named an NBA All-Star in 1975. This honor is given to the best players in the league each season. He was traded from the Lakers to the Bucks during that All-Star season.
Jim Price was also recognized for his defensive skills. He was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 1973. In his first year, he was part of the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 1972, showing he was one of the best new players.
Coaching Career
After his playing days were over, Jim Price became a coach. He spent five years as the head coach for the IUPUI Jaguars women's team. During his time there, his team had a record of 73 wins and 55 losses. They also made it to the NAIA post-season tournaments three times.
